What trade in value would you ask for an mp3 for 13k miles?

just wondering here since new plans are available. what price should i ask or consider as a good offer?

around 20,000 is what they sell on ebay for...but trade-in would be like, i dunno...a couple grand less than what you payed cause of the imediate deprieciation or something like that.

Remember that even thought they are asking 20 grand on ebay, I don't think they are getting it.
I think between 15,000 and 16,000 at best.

If anyone thinks that these cars will demand more than you paid you are crazy.

If you figure the car drops $2000 the second you leave the lot and most people don't pay sticker for the car then that means that a car looses about $3000 from sticker price instantly. So maybe add on $500 to $1000 because its a limited run car and you are looking at $18500 - $3000 + $750 = $16,250.

If you are trading it in subtract and additional $1000 or so.

Cars are very very bad investments.

well, 16250 will do me well, im just waiting the snow melts (its melting right now) and tomorrow im going to go to some dealers and see what they say.

I love this car, but my wife its buying an xterra, which leaves us with 2 big cars (i consider the mp3 big compared to my old miata :D )
And since she liked the miata so much, and i always dreamed of modding the miata, im considering trading in the mp3 for a 2001 or 2002 miata, but only if i can get a good trade in, anything lower than 16k is bad for me.

Trade-in is VERY bad on these cars. Out of curiosity I talked to two local dealorships. Pretending to be interested in a $30K Millenia I lied that my car was paid for. The dealorships both offered 13K as a trade-n because they said they would put the MP3 on the lot at $15G... It was all I could do to keep from laughing as I left. Somehow I think they'd try to get more than $15G for a P5 or MP3 with 10K miles.

Just to let you guys know MP3's DO NOT SELL FOR 20 grand on anything. ive been trying to sell mine for 18 and i have only gotten one call. i am still selling it and i cant afford it...... ebay is crap for us to sell our cars on. not many people know what they are. so i just put a for sale sign in mine and put it on auto trader and the news paper and hope for phone calls... (i had it on ebay 3 times and i didnt get one bid)

13k???? holy!!! !@###$%! i guess i better hurry before i put more miles!

yeah trade in is bad on any car THIS early...you have no equity at all, plus the payout on the loan is still pretty high. so if the payout is say, 15k...and the dealer offers you 13k, you still have to come up with the 2k to pay the loan off, which means you'd only get 11k basically...hold on to the car...in the long run, its worth it, whether you keep the car or not.

ok guys, YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY OFFERED FOR MY CAR.... I actually got them to go up 2k more, but still, not worthy... oh well, seems like ill be working harder.
