Hey forum, I'm on the lookout for new tires for this comming summer. I live in PR and if you know PR, when its hot its hot. So what tires do you guys recommend? Is it worth the money ordering from TireRack? Thanks All

Goodyear F1 GSD3.....one of the best tires for sure.

Order from tirerack only if it saves you a significant amount of money....but then you need to get them mounted and balanced which will cost more. Your best bet is to bring the tirerack print-off to a local tire place and see if they will match the price...plus most local places offer a road hazard warranty and free rotation and balancing.

I have the BF Goodrich G-force Sports. Very grippy and quiet with decent treadwear to boot!

Still have the crummy stock RS-As on, but will more than likely be getting Kumho Ecsta ASXs. I have heard nothing but praise about these tires from everybody thats gotten them, and they are one of the least expensive 205/50-17s out there.

After looking at the tread pattern on these, and the rated tread life, I rather stick with the stock RS-As. Besides, they aren't offered in a 205/50-17 anyway.

True, RSAs will last longer, are all season, and will have a quieter ride. F1s (and other tires in their category) are defintely max performance summer tires so you sacrifice quietness, treadwear, and comfort for performance. Both are good depending on what you're looking for.

I have the Kumho ASX (KU21) High Perf All Season tires in 225/40/18. They are really good so far.

I did a short review of them here

Actually the stock RS-As suck IMHO I've had 3-4 nails stuck in 3 diferent tires. The only good thing I can say about this is that you can last a long time with the nails in there. Other than that. Performance sucks with stock. I'm looking for max performance and visual performance too...

Thanks

^^^what he said. I work at a tire place on weekends and most people would agree. They're usually overpriced too. Although the nails getting stuck in the tires probably isn't the tire's fault.

i also have kumho's. I like em as well, only put about 4k on them so far, no problems.

Had Hankook Ventus HRII H4 05. Unbelievable tread life. I put a ton of miles on them. Through the winter at that. Got lazy. Though, rims paid and had to get new ones.

wheelmax.com

i suggest checking this site out, very good deals on tire packages. im still debating whether i want chromes or white rims. opinions would be helpful

Chrome is usually heavier, if that matters to you.

I went black rim with aluminum lip when no one had that style in my area and now everybody and their mother is driving around with black rims. I hate when things become trendy.

15 inchers....

I upgraded my Toyo 15s to Falken Ziex ZE 512s 205/60/15.
Everyone is installing 17, 18 & 19 inch wheels..... my car came with the 15" alloys wich i think look good and my car is comfortable as a bonus.... i would not even think driving around Montreal (Quebec) on 18 inchers.... another pothole, another flat, another broken rim.....

That extra 10mm of rubber makes a big difference on handling and those tires are very grippy and quiet on wet pavement.

Now I doubt this would become trendy ;-)
