02-03 WRX filters are about twice as big, have twice the filtering capacity, fit on PERFECT, and take oil consumption up to an even 4 qts. What more could you want?
I've been running WRX Mobil 1 Syn Filters for the last two oil changes... i'll never go back to the little tiny OEM one. Its crap.

Fram #6607 I believe is the model number for $3... An oil filter is an oil filter... It's not like other brands are "SOOO MUCH" better then others... And even oil... It's all the same schnit...
goldstar said:You can't beat the OEM filter but if you'd rather have somewhat greater filtering capacity (although I don't think it's needed) buy the Mazda 626 V6 oil filter. Same diameter, thread and pressure relief valve setting as OEM but taller, with ~ 30% greater filtering capacity.
My engine oil is Red Line 10W-30.

goldstar said:The 2000-2002 V6 oil filters will fit and probably some of the earlier ones as well. The mazda part no. for the V6 oil filter is: JEYO-14-302-9A.
