What lip is this?

Does anyone know what kind of lip this is? is it from protege 01+sedan ?

Kinda. Its a mazda part. I believe for 01-03 but some people have them on earlier models. Not sure exactly which years it is made for.

what kind of modifications did you have to do in order for it to fit ?

they didnt used to be a member had a group buy or a bunch for sale i forgot what he called it, but i picked it up off from him for dirt cheap. They are around occasionally in the for sale section

here it is painted:

the modifications were different bracket placement, and also cutting about 1 1/4" off from each side and reattaching the end caps.

A guy on here had a write up back in the day on how to do it and i kinda took his advice and did it my own way.

Which was cut the ends off near where it bolts to the fender well
Then cut 1 1/4" or so off from each side.
Then used JB weld to attache the ends back onto the newly shortened lip
Then used bondo bumper repair(a two part flexible expoxy found at advance, autozone, etc..) to smooth out the inperfections
Then sanded really smooth then painted.

well i have the full lip kit, it would look goofy with a black front lip and the rest painted.

no i liked that look too, ran for a bit over a year with just the black front lip, i loved it, jsut was time for somethign new so i got P5 side skirts, and 03.5 MSP rear lip, and have a 03.5 MSP spoiler on the way

yea i' really like that look to, from me searching just now it looks like it's not going to be easy task finding one of those lips hehe not in a hurry to get so i have plenty time. I assume the side skirts and rear lip were direct bolt on ?

do you have any pics with the summer wheels and body kit ?

yeah side skirts and rear lip were very easy to install no modifications, the rear lip was by far the hardest to find seeing how both 01 MP3/03 MSP and 03.5 MSP lips are discontinued.

yea when they go for sale they usually don't last really long.

i have one, if i don't put it on my car, i'll put if up for sale sometime.

if i do put it on, i know i prob won't paint it my car color, mostly b/c i know that i would scratch it so many times it would be senseless...

and do you think that these actually do anything diverting air wise?

well, because of the angle that it's at, and at higher highway speeds, i wouldn't doubt if it pushes some air in that opening either to your radiator... or fmic! hehe! shhhhh
