What have you done to your P5 today?

Started it for the first time in months, with the new motor. Check engine lights on so I must have forgot to plug something in lol I cant for the life of me figure out what, I have an extra plug but nothing it goes to. Havent had a stock manifold in a long time so its confusing me lol

Was your daughter trying to avoid hitting something on the road? Sorry you have to go through the hassle of having the car assessed and etc.

Wish I were local and could get those tails off ya.

Well, much rather go through the hassles of getting the car fixed than her! She was running late getting to SATs and missed her turn. She pulled one of those "oh s***, wait, I'll turn around in this parking lot" manuevers. Unfortunately the speed limit on the road is 45mph and the turn was too tight.

3-5 days for the adjuster to get in touch with me before he even looks at it. Gives ya enough time to mail yours to me. haha Should have kept my stock tails and then I could have swapped them out before they drag her away...if that happens. I do have a box of stock parts in the garage ready-to-go should she get totaled.

Not the red p5, hope everything ok with ur daughter. If car does get totaled ill take the visors from you.

Yep :( and thanks, she is doing fine. Me on the other hand not-so-much. I'm so loopy that I gave her the keys to the Miata to drive to school while I drive the rental (Focus hatch). You mean the window visors? If so, that won't be doable. I've already removed them once to re-apply the double sided tape and they were a b**** to get off.

Sorry about that Jeff. What wheels are those, I like them a lot!

Thanks Cam. Like Hank said, they are base wheels off of a 2006 Miata. Weigh in under 16lbs and have I got a great deal for you.....buy 3, get 1 free!!!! (lol2)

And the vultures begin swooping in.

Yep....maybe I do want her to get totaled. haha Off the top of my head, I'll be pulling the Nautilus horn (going on the Miata), MSM mirror cover, DaveB rings, Tribute intermittent wiper stalk, JVC HU and BT adapter, Ebay rear strut bar, Mazda6 wagon rear wiper....

Good to hear your daughter is ok. Sorry to hear about the car though. Sad to say I am on the vulture list. lol

i don't have time to part out my car, if anyone wants to come get it for a reasonable offer it's yours...the motor is still good, tranny slippiing (yes auto tragic) it's been boosted for over 90k miles, engine has about 165k, timing belt an water pump done at 135k, gt28rs disco potato, full exhaust with RB catback, custom leather "p5" interior, blah, blah, blah...the bad is the rust on the strut tower, hood and rear hatch...fender still good amazingly! so i'm in the boston area, can't drive the car, it's off the road and needs a starter. no reasonable offer refused...PM me, mark.

Bumper mounting tabs all broke so I got me a nice little latch.

Dropped it off to get the AC fixed, pulled a motor out of the other and started pulling the motor out of another to replace the motor in the other...also put the Civic up for sale...believe the CRV is next up...

^^^^or click "go advanced" then "manage attachments". From there you can upload up to five pics per post from your pc.

Just got off the phone with State Farm. Check has been written for repairs (I have yet to physically see the estimate...that's another story) and total damages are $3,111.62.

Replacing front bumper, left bumper marker, left fender, left wheel and tire, left lca and a link package. Repairing inner fender and rocker panel and blending of door and hood. Now just have to wait and see if they find any other damage once they get the wheel off and given the mileage/age of the hub and bearing I have a feeling they'll replace those (both are original with over 185k on them).

Ouch...was hoping it would be a write off...crazy it isn't in all honesty...I know that is what you were after...

Have you entertained the thought of keeping the car and taking the $3100 and just getting the repairs done to keep it running shape???

Wheel, LCA, Link...easy bolt on/off and under a $200 repair by yourself...then sell car for $2K or possibly more...gives you $5K to look for something else...as you and I both know it isn't a $5K+ car...

I'm surprised it isn't either given the total of the damages and that is before it's been on a lift and the wheel taken off. TBH, I have mixed feelings. On one hand it's $500 out of pocket now and she's back on the road...on the other I have to find something else but I don't have to deal with the rust. If she were totaled I'd get far more out of her than I would from selling/trading her.

So I just tell insurance that I don't want the collision shop to fix it and they give me the check? Pretty sure they have already paid them and wouldn't I get $2600 due to my deductible? Wasn't sure this was an option.

LCA and link, def easy but wheel might be a little tougher to find. They are 2006 Miata wheels. Might be able to source just one on ebay but TBH honest I've never seen them f/s that much. And I think even $2k for the car at that point would be too much. The rust in the quarters is bad and factor in the bumper, fender rocker panel damage.... Could probably find a fender cheap and would need to as it's bent at the bottom an no way to reattach the rocker panel as it sits. Plus the rocker is split right in the front. I wonder just what they value the car at...that they feel it's not a total loss?

Correct...they would take it from the deductible...another option is to ensure they are using OEM replacement parts ONLY for replacement instead of pieces through Keystone/Ect...

Gotcha and we'll see. Called the shop this morning and got sooo much more info from them. These are just a few of the reasons I wish I had been present:

1) Couln't find a used bumper/fender so springing for new along with the bumper marker. I have a pair of bumper markers sitting in my garage and would have inquired about an MSP bumper instead. Also could have told the guy I might have a source for bumper/fender (looking at you Alex).

2) Replacing wheel with a reconditioned one and then sending mine back as a core to be repaired and sold later. Girl at shop is pretty sure they ordered an 02 Protege wheel...not an 06 Miata wheel.

3) She told me that they are using a USED LCA (more than likely from a vehicle with rear damage). Um, I just replaced the LCA's earlier this year to pass inspection. Now they are going to throw on one with God knows how many miles and will there be any warranty. The ones I bought had a lifetime warranty through AZ and that included the bushings and ball joints!
