What have you done to your P5 today?

You'll have to chop up the axle back to fit correctly.

And why would you want the mid pipe? You'll then be running 3 cats, assuming you're running stock header.

ya i did cut the tip shorter. it looks pretty good. maybe i have the names for the parts wrong but i got the cats, the long pipe that goes from the cats to the axle back and the muffler. All that for $20. but i have only put the muffler on so far.

yea somethings wrong with your car if the corksport doesnt sound good, it sounds the best out of all the exhausts made for the protege

the only time ive heard the corksport sound bad is with headers, and any car sounds bad with headers and catless

edit: and i never had any problems with my vtcs removal, guess u just have to know how to do it

Ive got a Spooled^ header. I had the same header, catless midpipe and my GReddy and liked it. It was really low tone and never raspy. The Corksport has a small resonator and is so bloody loud and raspy I honestly don't even like driving my car anymore. Don't get me wrong, the construction of the exhaust is great and their customer service is amazing, I love their company. But this exhaust with a header sounds terrible. And I just sold my pre-cat last week, dang it.

And I followed the VTCS removal HOW TO to the tee. Had I known it was going to give me so much grief I would've just left it alone. My car ran flawlessly before the removal. Now she's mad at me. Ugh- just stressful when my car isn't running right.

Washed/waxed it.

well i was just sayin, without a cat. the corksport is going to sound super bad lol
and trust me, i know how you feel, i had so much trouble trying to get everything to run right when i went turbo
takes a while to get everything sorted out, but now it runs super smooth, no leaks or weird noises or anything :)

In other news, I hate this Corksport exhaust tone. You were right, DUB. It sounds terrible. It's really buzzy, raspy and loud as hell. My old GReddy muffler won't bolt up so I don't know what to do now. Would welding in another resonator help?

A res would help but instant sexy would be the stock header with it, thats up to you though.

I thought the Corksport sounded great from the YouTube videos I've heard, could just be something I need to hear in person though.

His sound bad for the exact reason I told you about, hes now running no cats on a NA so its very high pitch and loud. Most of the corksport vids on utube have the stock header, which has the cat so its not catless, therefore it sounds great!

Figures - the same day I join the forum, I notice that my rear passenger caliper has seized to the slide pin. The caliper no longer slid, so it wore the inner pad (already kinda low) down to the steel backing and carved up the rotor pretty well. So now it's in pieces in the garage until I can hunt down a new caliper/bracket; I think the local O'Reilly's has a loaded caliper. I'll post pieces of the damage when I get a chance; it's pretty impressive to see a rotor grooved on one side and actually rusted on the other.

Until then, I'm in the spare family '94 Protege. Quite a different little car.

I feel your pain....I just replaced my DS rear caliper that seized....had to cut it with a hacksaw as I didn't buy a loaded caliper so I needed to re-use the bracket.

That's one of the solutions that I considered and then discarded before even trying it because I assumed that pin was super-hardened steel. I guess I will give it a shot before I go out and buy a $$$ loaded caliper.

Hmm... When I removed my caliper, I used a BFH and smacked the hell out of it until it budged. LOL.

Actually it was much easier than I thought....took about 5 minutes. Before you cut, remove the rubber 'bushing' from the caliper so you can get a better look at the pin...and make sure to cut closer to the caliper side so you will have 'just enough' pin leftover to back out with a pair of pliers.

LOL....you just love those BFH's. We had to use vice grips to get the top pin out and then had to remove the entire assembly due to the bottom pin being seized in the caliper.

Hell yeah dude. The BFH has gotten me out of many a pickle when working on a car. If it doesn't get the part loose the way I'm hoping, I just go in the back yard and smash something with it to blow off some steam.

Sweet....a dual purpose BFH.

Maybe I should pick one up for when I attempt to do the timing belt later this year....lol
