What have you done to your P5 today?

are you tuned? Maybe try pulling a couple degrees of timing out and see if that helps. Do you have any way of logging the ECU parameters to see what the engine's doing?
MSP ECU and Split Second AFC so no timing control :( It didn't used to do this so I wonder what's up. I can only monitor air/fuel ratio, boost pressure and RPM right now as well. Tomorrow I'm going to check out the MAF filament and the sparkplugs. Hopefully this is just something stupid. I'll also dial the boost controller back a little.

aMaff, I'm just curious, how can you pull degrees of timing? I thought it's autmoatically adjusted by the ecu. I ask because I've seen some wild timing values on my car. Can't remember exactly.

With a standalone that affords you control over timing advance.

How are the afr's looking? The msp ecu has a bad habit of learning around the split second afc and going wacky. You may want to try reseting the ecu and reprograming the afc.

LOL +1

I've had the AFC installed now for nearly 1.5 years and I've never noticed the ECU learning around it. I double check the AFRs but it didn't feel like I was leaning out (loss of power, etc.). I do burn a fair amount of oil so it's possible I've gummed up the spar plugs some. The only problem is where I live I rarely get the chance to go WOT.

A little off topic but does anyone have a gauge surround they're selling? I'm thinking about making a dual pod gauge surround for myself since I really don't wanna spend 250 for one.

Bah! It's still cutting out and I'm down to about 8.5 psi or so. It's definitely not fuel cut - way to soft for that. It's definitely either a misfire or detonation but it only happens at WOT when I just slam on it. If I roll onto the throttle everything appears to be fine. Seems to happen more at lower RPM as well (more load on the engine). AFRs, for those interested are roughly 11.5:1 - right where I want them to be.

check the gap on the plugs maybe? Could be a flaky coil too.
It's quite possible - they are the stock coils so they have nearly 70k miles on them. Yep, tomorrow I'm going to inspect the coils, the MAF and probably due a compression test (for the hell of it). It's really not too annoying because it seems to stop at higher RPM and now that I've lowered the boost a little it's weaker and more infrequency. Just all the more reason to get my spare block up and running. To bad I'm splurging on another non-engine related item tomorrow :D

Just ordered a new gauge surround to use as my project for the dual gauge pod surround. 30 bucks shipped brand new. Thanks Ken.

No clue...but I did make plans to pick up an 05 Mazda6 motor/transmission with 40,000 miles on it...only paying $70...

Also a CF Open mouth grill and AEM CAI for it for $50...

I will hopefully be hauling it in the P5 when it gets the new motor put in...
