What have you done to your P5 today?

I got my Mazda6 rear wiper conversion in the mail - thanks to Bagman and onlinemazdaparts. Just a quick question to anyone who has already done this - from what I can tell right now you can't lift up on the wiper without first removing the bolt-cap thing. Is this just how it works or am I missing something?

That's all there is to it...just pop off the cover and it exposes the nut holding it on. Once you have everything installed the wiper will no longer be able to be lifted from the glass (propped up, say for cleaning the glass) unless you modify the new 'cap' also.

Theres a good how to thread on the matter. It's a cool mod!

Bah, that's what I was afraid of. Not really too big a deal but I can't see the design process behind that. Oh well, it certainly looks a hell of a lot better. Well if things go well this weekend I will be changing oil and transmission fluid as well as installing my Progress rear swaybar and the Mazda6 rear wiper arm. Might even try playing with the throttle cable a little. Ooh, ambitions.

lasermp5, you going to be headed to Classic Mazda March 8th? I'll be up in Longwood that weekend. Sounds like Taylor (evilmonkeyMSP) is also going to be headed there as well as afew others.

Tylor

Dang, what's going on at classic on the 8th? Ya I should be there.

It's a Pre-Sebring Exhibition. Should be afew race teams there with thier cars. Driver's autograph session and a forum mini-meet. We can meet up before we head in. I'd like to meet up with everyone going before we get there and roll in together. I'll be staying atmy mom's that weekend over by the Lambo dealer

Dropped of my rental car at the airport to pick up mine and head into work. Walked out to this and proceeded to call the wife and let her know that I will never leave my car at the airport again in the Winter. Had about an inch of ice completely covering the entire front end of the car. I do have to say, as I have before. Blizzaks rule ! I had a Pontiac G6 that I had to drive home from Chicago in yesterday, that thing was all over the road. I have so much more confidence when I drive mine........

Hey check this out. It is from the how-to thread. I still have to do this to mine as it is a minor pita to remove the cap when washing the car or for those icy days when you want to get your wipers off the glass.

Dude, that sux! How long did it take to clean her off?

Hello Jeffrey, how are ya doing?

I'm good thanks! Just got back from Israel last Saturday, was home for 2 days, and now I'm in Texas. Can't wait to get back home so I can drive the p5 around again! I'm gonna do a seafoam and oil change soon, and also new brake pads (and possibly rotors too).

Also, I bought some new winter tires on clearance for next winter since my winter tires were getting low on tread. Paid $280 shipped for 4 Bridgestone Blizzak Revo 1s! :D

if you have to leave it somewhere in the snow again, you might want to see if there is a car cover that fits

Not as long as I thought it would. The freakin ice was the worst part....
That snow was pretty damn deep behind me too. I had to get thru the drift where the plow truck had tried to bury me in. But, again the Blizzak's showed me exactly why I bought them in the first place. Plowed thru like the snow wasn't even there.

Hey thanks a lot - that's actually what I was thinking about doing but I wasn't sure if that piece was necessary for something.

Israel to Texas? Now that is some jet lag. lol Stay safe and nice deal on those winter tires!

I hear ya, I hate scraping ice. So the blizzak's are good. I keep reading how everyone loves them but have also heard that they are basically good for one season. After that they are nothing more than an all-season???

NP and have fun with the install. It is easy but time consuming (if you use a file like I did) lol

Just sharing a little crappy vid clip of how my car idles. Is this normal

My idle

Tylor
I would say no, not normal. I'm having throttle issues with my 626 IM and your tach needle easier moves 2-3 times as much as mine does. Almost seems like a vacuum leak somewhere?

I wasn't seriously asking if it's normal. I know it's not. That's how it idles right now. The block is actually getting torn down right now as we speak to find out if there is any damage to the motor and to find out what is bouncing around in the motor and to find out why cyliners 3 and 4 keep smashing spark plugs. Yippie

Tylor

So far, yeah. They gave the mechanic the OK to do as little tearing down of the motor as possible to find out what is wrong. He's gonna call me as soon as he finds out whats up.

One nice thing is he's gonna throw my AWR on the car for nuthin since he's gonna be there anyway!!

But, it doesn't help me if the car is just sitting there
