What have you done to your P5 today?

Installed the Apexi Air Diverter plate today - boy was that a pain. I don't know if I just got a defective one or not but the holes on mine did not line up with the stock grille bolts at all. I had to take a dremel to each hole and bring each one about 1/8-1/4" closer to the center. I also didn't get the sticker I requested. I was very disappointed (sad1) .

mine fit just fine...that's weird. mine didn't come with a sticker, but I didn't want one anyway. I bet if you ask them they'll send you one...

Yeah I just made a similar post in the GB thread. I'm not really too upset because I know every car has its own small differences but I was really surprised how much metal I had to grind away. Honestly I was expecting to have to do a littler tweakingshaving but not grinding down nearly 1/2" total of metal. Unfortunately I nicked the top surface once or twice so it isn't spotless but it still looks nice. I'm going to have to get used to not having my nut/bolt/tool tray anymore.

I'm with you 100% on that one. I also wonder how much the air diverter plate actually diverts air...I think it's more just for looks on our cars, right?

Oh I'm sure. I was looking at it today after I installed and polished it and I had half and idea to paint it black to make it flow a little better with my engine bay (most everything is black or red) but then I thought better of it realizing it would have pretty much been a waste.

you could get it powdercoated...lasts longer than paint...
Oh yeah, that was my idea but I figured the point of the plate was more for looks. If it were black it wouldn't really stand out - it'd just make the engine bay look a little smoother.

there is too much p5 bad karma, my motor just shut down on me today. overheated to the point where it died, and no i wasnt driving for a long period of time after it overheated, it started losing power so i looked down saw the check engine light and the temp gauge and immediately pulled off the highway and shut it down.
dont know what happened, ill find out tomorrow
hopefully my motor isnt done for...wish me luck

She's as anxious as I am to get the cams in! (nana)
I am trying to make sure I have all the parts I need for the install.
Meanwhile, there are only a couple of places who would do this install for me out here in LaLa Land. Still waiting for an estimate so I can prepare for another hit to the wallet.(blowup)

Oh and she's dirty, but at least thats easily addressed.

Hey Red, I hope it's not another blown engine. (doh)

my bet is a blown hose.
thats what im hoping. but the way the car lost power leads me to believe its something else.

well, probably a blown hose leading to an over heated engine and a warped aluminum head.

Check all your hoses, including the throttle body and heater core hoses on the back of the engine.

Does it run now? Can you crank it for a few seconds to see how it runs? If it sounds like s*** it's almost definately the head.

well after i shut it down on the highway, it wouldnt start back up, it sat there and made a very unpleasant sound when i tried cranking it. sounded like it was seized but maybe our cars are smart and just shut themselves down when the temp needle goes PAST the hot mark

yep just talked to the garage they said the motor is FRIED

YAY! zoom zoom boom x2
i think im going to have Justin (xelderx on the forums) help me with my motor swap
i really cant afford to pay a shop to do it

Yep. Overheating like that, you've probably got 1 solid lump instead of a bunch of smaller parts...
