haha nah. time for another stock fs block with a rebuilt 626 head :D

Sounds like a good idea. I can't imagine finding anything good under there lol. If it over heated that much, a warped head may be the least of your worries. My miata overheated on the interstate once and I caught it before it got anywhere near that, shut it down and had it towed home. Fixed the hose, and it's been running well ever since.

you got lucky. i didnt suspect anything was wrong till i started losing power and by that time it was too late

Yeah. The temperature and oil pressure idiot lights pretty much come on to tell you you're f'ed lol. I happened to smell coolant while I was in a touch of traffic on an on-ramp, and looked @ the gauge and saw it climbing. I got lucky.

i didnt smell anything. i was going 70 with the front windows and sunroof open. there was no spray of water indicating overflow, and i was paying attention to the road not my gauge cluster and didnt notice anything wrong until my car stopped accelerating and i looked down to see the CEL and the temp gauge, the oil light didnt come on till i had tried to restart the car

congrats!

does anyone know the serial #(s) for the mp3 ecu's? i'm trying to locate one...

Good luck. Why don't you just flash your stock P5 ECU? its cheaper anyway.

Oh going to change the oil this weekend, full synthetic baby, oh yeah.

1 - no mp3's that i know of in the area to 'flash' off of
2 - i've heard from one or two people on the boards who've gone this route that they've had problems and had to go back to the stock P5 'settings'. don't know if they had other mods, etc, on the cars that would have affected this, but i didn't want to run the risk.

btw, i already have one in hand, just wanted to confirm that the serial number was one of the correct ones.

Did you find any info yet?
i think so - i finally came across a thread that listed three different serial numbers, one of which is what i have (it was in the mp3 subforum), and from what i recall (i used to have them written down), it sounds accurate. i might try calling one of the local dealers to double check.

I used my car to pick up some free moving boxes off craigslist for a friend who's moving this weekend. Had so many boxes in there I couldn't even see out my rear window. I love my p5 (humpleg)

I also came within about 1 foot of hitting a deer on the way home...almost had to add my p5 to the recently injured list. That curse is out to get us! Watch out everybody!

did the boxes thing on sunday - yep, she sure can hold a lot of stuff! :D

how low were you?

I'm pretty sure Justin can rebuild and swap a motor in his sleep, he has so much experience with it :D
i agree with you on that one
but i think my car might be getting totaled out by my insurance company. mines only worth around $7200 and im close to $5000 in damage (factoring in the front end damage from my wreck as well as the motor and anything else that needs to be replaced)
so if its gets totaled out, im moving on to a 1993 240SX
i guess we'll just have to wait and see
