What have you done to your P5 today?

As far as drifting, I know how enjoyable that can be. I took my dads Altima out yesterday and even with a foot brake, i got it quite sideways on two occasions.

I found an empty parking lot last night in my pickup truck, it had been plowed hours earlier but hadn't been touched for a few hours. I brought it out of 4x4 and into RWD and did a few 270 degree donuts :D

@D-rock well then, thats even better. If you dont mind, could you have a look at tue link in post 53744 and let me know the difference? I thought that was a good price but the 20 dollar one kinda beats it. I actually have a mate who has a scanner that I can use but I dont really want to have to rely on him all the time.

Actually, I just looked at both the options. If its not too personal, can I ask what your mate was about to spend? Me personally, I would rather spend a bit more but idk now if I should. Ill have to have a think after I get my codes read today or tomorrow. If I have a feeling theyre going to come back (I'm sure they will unfortunately) I'll look more into the readers.

@Bastian Only 270 degrees? ;). If you mean 720 then thats crazy! I could only do that in my moms jeep but it would be exceedingly difficult seeing as its AWD and there isn't a driver controlled transfer case. I think its QuadraTrac 1??? Either way, I think the last car my parents had that could operate in RWD was actually two GMC Jimmys they had. My dad had the '97 with the floor mounted shifter, my mom had a '96 with the column mounted one. I wish she still had it though...

Cleaned out one of my wheels today. I don't think the inside barrel has been cleaned for the whole 146,000 miles it has been driven. Used my electric power washer, some Sonax wheel cleaner and plenty of elbow grease to get it all clean. After that I gave it a quick polish with a drill, and a coat of wax. I think it turned out pretty good for a wheel that old! Planning on doing the rest soon now that I have the process down.

The whole barrel of the wheel was the same color as the inside of the spokes. I didn't clean that part because you can't see it and I didn't feel like getting my hands even more nasty.

Now I wish I had a power washer and warmer weather. That looks like new from what I can see. Mine almost aren't worth saving.

Took her for a spin around the neighborhood and she drove fine- there wasn't any hesitation. But, with all good things, I found my headlights randomly flickered off and on twice within the span of 30 seconds. I cant say for sure if its the lights or what but ill keep an eye on it. Also, a shroud fell off the projector but im happy about that because it gives me one more reason to reopen my headlight. (the projector was wobbly and i can fix that and there were fingerprints (im a doof) in there too))

Hopefully t-minus 19 days till she's insured! :D

You should have skipped the wax and put a coat of paint on instead. The barrles are a lot rougher than the face of the wheel and the pores love to hold on to all sorts of crap. I painted that part semi-gloss black on the factory wheels for my MZ3. Most stuff just rinses off, and what doesn't i can get easily with a rag.

it's not what I did to my P5 today, it's what I didn't do

it was almost buried under snow, at least the back half, and I didn't even bother digging it out as it would be completely useless given the conditions of the roads. Hooray for having a 4x4 truck! (2thumbs)

So much snow! Holy Crap! (eek2)

They do look good. I need to do that this summer. Removing all that dirt could count as weight reduction hahahaa
Hah, I literally was thinking the same thing myself. 1 ounce less of unsprung weight!

My long term plan is to paint them. Painting is something that I would really like to do perfectly the first time. I need to do some more research on products and technique before I tackle that. I was thinking about Opti-Coating the wheel, which would probably be even better than painting them as far as cleaning goes. However it is over 50 bucks for a small syringe, and I figured if I do paint them there is no point in doing that now and wasting my product.

If I find a set of NC Miata 10 spoke wheels, someone on here is going to be able to buy some very clean stock P5 wheels!

Ordered the Hankooks from Jack Williams and dropping the wheels off tomorrow morning to get them m&b. Guy gave me a little bit of grief when I asked for the 205/50/16 saying it was too tall and would rub....I've been running that size for several years now with no issues as I know most of you have. I've got to sign off on it tomorrow that I'm choosing this size vs. it being recommended to me. $436 OTD with tax....not too bad. Now to get the SPC camber bolts installed and an alignment done.

P0123. TPS position scan circuit high input. Idk what the heck that means! Throttle position sensor?? But I started her up and there wasn't a CEL as I drove to my pals. I wiped down the coils yesterday and called it a day. There was a decent amount of oil on the coil near the oil filler cap but idk if it actually got inside the wiring and all. :)

Could the fact that my batt may be dead and I locked the doors have wiped the code? The stereo settings were still as I left them so maybe that didn't wipe the code but wither way, im really happy :)

I dented the passenger door last night while squeezing into the driveway. As I turned in, I hit the snow-bank and heard a nice crunching sound. Turns out the snow-bank was more ice than snow =/

Don't do that!!! I hope its a small enough dent to where you could pop it right out???

When in doubt I guess... But hey, now you know for future reference (no offence)

You barely notice it, it blends in with the rest of the beater-look of the car :)

Next time I might stop after the first *crunch* instead of doing it a few times.

What did I get my P5 for Valentine's day? A day off. She get's about 300 miles a week so I figured today would be a nice relaxing day off for her. Fuel up tomorrow. Hopefully the gas prices drop another 5 cents or so by then.
