What have you done to your P5 today?

Ordered just shy of $100 worth of OEM parts earlier for when I swap rads sometime next week. While I have the system drained and apart, I figured I'd replace both hoses, rad cap and t-stat. They were last changed back in June of 2009, ~50K miles. Also ordered rubber grommets for the brackets, the originals are shot.

Ty, that will look awesome on Callie's car! Nice idea on the tails too. Any ideas on how to get them apart?

Cam, roof came out nice but gotta agree with Evan and Clever, not really digging it on the dark blue. Great idea though for making it look better. The clear on my spoiler is def. showing its age.

Where did u hear the clunk? On ps side?? I have the same issue too.especially on dirt roads I hear it.

Yes, on the PS is where I'm hearing it when turning the steering wheel. Outside is a clunk type noise while in the cabin I hear a groaning noise. Whole damn front end creaks and groans when I go over speed bumps or at low speeds in parking lots. She goes in Monday, hoping this guy can diagnose something for me.

How bad are they? Headlight restoration kit could help.

Or buy brand new sedan lights off eBay for $100

not too horrid. Plan on doing a retro eventually, save $100 there. Then, when the lenses really are knackered, I'll pick a newer set up off eBay and switch the projectors into there! (or just the lenses, idk). I've seen the lense restoration kits for like, $10, I kept saying to myself naah but since you along with a few others now have pointed it out, why not give it a shot!

It was just odd, I was cleaning the lights off and then realized the high and low beam are one reflector thing! Hopefully the wires aren't too butchered up... Ill try and put a pic of the lights up on my "build" thread. As of now its a "fixing it up" thread... Gotta start somewhere though!

Can't hurt to give one of the kits a shot. When you are done put a coat of wax on the lenses. ;) BTW congrats on finally picking one up!

I second an answer to this! Having the same issue. Did plugs, replaced egr, replaced intake, cleaned MAF, cleaned TB.

ICV = idle control valve. I've never cleaned mine but I'm assuming it's similar to cleaning the EGR. I'm sure there's a how-to for it.

much appreciated! :) parson me for sounding a wee bit thick but, are you serious about the wax? I would assume so as it kinda protects em but meh, I learned the hard way that waxing a windshield isn't always the smartest of things to do! ( a la my dad yelling that he cant see...) mind you that was the inside that was dirty so nevermind! Just chuntering :)

And on the kit thing, I guess I've finally come to terms that, $10 is hardly a hit if it doesn't work! :)

Anyway, off to bed... School then cleaning my p5 out again :)

Take it easy

Be careful with the eBay lights. I got a set to just use the lenses when I did my retro and they fit like s***. I pulled them back off and threw them away.

Noted. I feel like pulling them off a junked protege might be better but I could still have the foggy lens problem so that's why I'll see how these "stock" ones work now. What are the projectors that fit snugly into the sedan headlamps with only a small cut? I have the Morimoto mini h1s bookmarked in my favorites for some reason but it seems as if those would be kinda dinky in the reflector? I dont have the system in my hand though so I cant make any sure judgements...

I'm going to let my plastidip sit for awhile and see how it goes. I was hoping it would be more of a dark grey since plastidip never looks black on large surfaces. In other news;

The plastidip looks better and better each day as it cures and evens out. I got my LEDs from super bright LEDs yesterday (Fast shipping). They look a lot more water proof than my last set

Pics (not mine) are with Mini H1's...I just installed the newest version (Ver 5.0) on my P5 with new set of DEPO HL...blacked out the LB reflector bowl and painted the shroud black but leaving the front tip chrome...similar look with the Mazda 3 HL.

Started her up to take Tamz to work and she stuttered out of the driveway and the CEL was staring at me. Backed her into the driveway and took the 3 to work. Limped her over to autozone to get codes pulled and threw another P1250 (threw the same one around a year ago but I never did anything as the car ran fine) and a P0302. That explains the stuttering. lol Going to check the plugs after lunch and she cools down a bit.

I'm just wondering though, the gas tank was on the empty side...the light came on on my way home last night and I had planned on filling the tank up after dropping the wife off this morning. She took 12.366 gallons to fill so I had just over 2 gallons in the tank but it rained all night. Could the low fuel in tank + dampness have caused the misfire or am I trying to be too optimistic?

I'm planning on installing ss lines today.... and I remembered that I'm missing a brake line retaining clip.
Anyone know where I can get one?

realized ive got sedan headlamps... anyone have any tips to clear the lenses up some???

Take them out and wet sand them with 2000 grit sand paper and buff them out. I have a buddy (auto body tech) that did the lenses on my 3 and P5 and they look like new.

Thanks for the tips guys. Ill try the buff I suppose this evening...

As As far as if I use the h1s, they have a high and low beam in em, like, they're bi-xenon, correct? Or not, in which case I might be looking at picking up a larger set and all. I wish I knew more about dit stuff. Live and learn :)

Any ideas, on a slightly different topic, where I could find the yellow sheets to tint the fogs? Ill probably ask around locally. Not sure if its any better to buy em from the interweb?

Gonna run the halogens for a little longer though, perhaps till May (get out of school then). Ill have a position hopefully as an intern where I worked this past summer.

PM Blue Batmobile for the yellow vinyl, he is fast and the quality is great.

Kk. Ill prob b waiting till November to do it... Gotta turn 18 if im gonna use a PayPal... Already ran into that problem... Twice

Now, I might be an idiot but I only found 320 grit. Im not gonna do anything to the lamps till I get a response but, you did mean 2000 grit, correct?

You probably won't find 2000 grit at home depot :P

3M makes a bunch of automotive sandpaper all the way up to 2000 grit, you can find it at autozone or stores like that.

Wasn't all a lost cause though, I picked some black plastidip up! :)
