What have you done to your P5 today?

The Miata didn't like running even a 35 watt kit without a relay

Dunno about V-LED kits yet, havn't seen much on them (although they're almost all the same chinease crap lol)

NP and not sure wth happened. It's been working fine for just over a week now so???? Thinking about swapping in the old silverstars in the lo-beams to see if that fixes it....

we had this same problem on my cousins car I'd personally just go with one of the regular sized 55W kits I've had nothing but trouble with 35w slim kits but haven't had any real problems with the normal sized kits.

i've never had a problem with any of my 4qty 35 watt kits i picked up from DDM or the techone kit from Gary i bought from his 1st HID group buy

I don't have a relay with my kit, but then again I got both of mine from HIDNY.com 35w 8000k for both fogs and low beams. But those kits will be going in a few weeks or so.

Would rather not use a 55W kit, that's just me though....

Did you ever use a slim ballast? This is my first time using one and I've been reading others who have had issues with DDMs slim ballasts as well and ended up swapping them out for the full size.

Ok...just talked with James at vleds and he believes it is the ballast sending power back thru the ground into the high beam. So a new ballast is in the mail and tonight I'll connect one of my old ones to see if that's the case.

i've used all 3 variations offered by DDM

The orig raptor, slim raptor, and the latest model as well.

... Sending power back thru the ground... Uhhh....

Is the ballast located anywhere near the high beam wires? Thanks to Ampere's law, we can assume that maybe the ballast is emitting a strong electromagnetic field that could be inducing a current in the power lead of the high beam lamp. I had issues with something like this with the robot that we built in college.

That's what he was thinking....that the ballast was drawing way too much and sending it back thru? I have the ballast mounted to the PS strut tower with 3M tape and the igniter is taped to the inner fender behind the windshield washer fluid. I believe that will be too far for your theory?

passing power back through ground is possible, we're troubleshooting some microscope equipment that SHOULDN'T be getting power as it isn't plugged in, yet still works when plugged in via a seperate set of cables that SHOULDN'T pass power

So anything's possible

I'd imagine putting halogens back in till you get a new ballst will cure it

Lol, just like about 600 pages ago when I first joined (look around mid May for reference in date for the posts) we come back to nothing but light discussion. Where is Matt V when you need him? lol

Yeah... the right hand rule of Ampere's law would be my guess... I guess one way to describe that is passing power thru the ground, the more I think of it.

Finished my exhaust. Kinda leaky, also the two lower o2 bungs didnt fit so I had to rig something up until i get two new ones. (using 626 headers) Also the egr tube that I got was too small. It pretty much didnt go well. Also the exhaust leaks. and the muffler sits a bit low.

=( sad face.

Well, going to swap in a Techone ballast tonight. I know for a fact they worked when I took them off. If that works, I'll run that until the new ballast arrives, if not, then the halogens go back in. I have some silverstars in the garage that shouldn't burn out by the time the new ballast arrives. lol

Psh, I'm the OG Light *****

Among other things. hehe

Sux to hear HK, just remove the EGR, problems solved. :)

if you cap the exhaust side, and leave the intake side open with a breather...no you wont have any problems
thats how ive been running it for like almost 2 years now
