What have you done to your P5 today?

how difficult is it to install struts by yourself? or how much on average ya think it would cost for a shop to do the work?

They aren't too bad if you have some wrenching knowledge. I would say they are a 3.5 out of 5 on the difficulty scale. Like someone said, rent the spring compressor, take your time, label nuts and bolts, follow the Hot-To on here and you'll be just fine. Plus you'll save $200 doing it yourself and the satisfaction of knowing they were installed by YOU. :)

ps- Those wheels are going to look badass. Great paint job and well done on getting them cleaned up. I just hope you don't ruin them with stretched tires... (snicker-snicker)

Well painted one of my bbs wheels today color is electron blue pearl will do another tomorow and so my project continue's :)

Nice! That's the 99-00 civic si sedan color.

Picked up my freshly repainted MSP lip and new rear door midbass speakers. Install tomorrow with freshly repainted JDP rep lip

Just putting the midbass woofer portion of the new polk dxi6500 components in the stock 6.5" location. They are just running off the deck, so just for real fill.

I thought the rear spekaers in a P5 was 5.5"??? When I put my Rockford mid bass speakers in mine, I had to jig saw the hole bigger to make them fit. They were 6.5".

@ JDMJNKY: The wheels and color look bad ass! Major points for being unique, but not off the radar. Cant wait to see some pics of them installed. Very inspirational!

I think technically they are 6", but this willl be the 3rd set of 6.5's I am putting back there. Also, I have the door and speaker hole completely covered in sound deadening, so it's a tight fit.

Off topic, but I've been asking in the P5 auto reliability thread about the tranny's in the 02 versus 03 and haven't gotten an answer and I am unable to find info searching about it. Are the 02 non-sportshift and 03 sportshift auto's the same transmission with just a different TCM? Thanks, eh? Dorian

^im not too sure about the auto's, but i do know that the 02 manual tranny's had weaker shift forks and other problems that they upgraded in 03
could be the same with the auto's but i cant say for sure

and today, finally finished tightening everything back up, filled up the car with mobil1 10w-30 and about to crank it up see if there are any leaks,
the 90* fitting made more space under the turbo for sure, but its still pretty tight...i wont have this setup much longer though so im ok with it

It was actually upgraded in 02.5. So some of the 02 tranny's are beefed up.

Mazda upgraded the throw-out bearing & shift forks, among others.

This was only the MTX, tho. Don't know s*** about the ATX.

today was a huge bust with getting my tires on. most places ive found dont want to mount a 35 side wall and if they do they arent comfortable with it and want $40+ per wheel.

cheapest i found was $30 per wheel with a shop comfortable with it. but do i want to spend $120 to mount my tires or just sell them and get some 17"s with a taller side wall giving me a cheaper mounting price

wow really? take it to a euro shop or something, my brother took his 195/40's still on his old wheels to get mounted on a 8.5" wheel, and he only paid 80 total lol
