What have you done to your MSP today?

anyone know what the sensor is called in the back/bottom of the transmission next to the shift linkage ? i know one is the neutral position switch. which i believe is in the front of the trans. i need the rear one. wire burnt to a toast rubbing against my exhaust. rockauto only shows the NPS. not the other one.

Exact same thing happened to me. That's why I need a harness. I shorted to ground on that sensor.

Auto Zone has it. I ordered mine from them when I thought that was the only problem. It was like $60

but its the correct one? cuz everywhere ive checked they have the one for the front of the trans which has a different plug-in than the one thats at the bottom of the trans. but im gonna check just to be sure. like i said rockauto only shows the one switch, and so far theyre parts have been right on whenever ive needed a replacement sensor or w.e BS

so after pretending to be busy at work. i think i may have finally found the right switch with the correct connector.

there's a no.1 switch and no.2 switch both of which i know used the same sensor but different connectors. so im assuming you need the no.2 connector as well ? since thats the one i burnt and need replaced

After autoX yesterday I switched out the AWR coilovers for the Tokico setup I had on a couple years ago. I kinda miss driving on bad roads at decent speeds and still has go kart qualities. Until next autoX season coilovers.

sweet lol. but did u just look it up as a part# until you found it or looking under a different model?.

nevermind lol firgure it out

I believe at the time I just cross referenced the OEM number through a suppliers website. I always look up my own parts. I was a manager for Advance and O'Reillys before getting into the service side of the industry, and let me tell you, there is usually one or two good parts store employees at a store and they're usually only there from 7-5. After that, you're SoL.

yea i feel u lol. which is why ive been looking online up and down on google until i found it with a diagram so i made sure i ordered the right part. i overpaid for the sensor once it was too late. but whatevz. as long as i can get it fixed and turn my damn CEL off.

Got my harness repaired until I find one. And got my oil return fitting tightened back into the pan so my severe oil leak is fixed. It's drivable, so I'm gonna start driving it around instead of the 8 every day.

New shifter bushings and 3rd link kit feel great but didn't resolve my 3rd gear issue. It still pops out of gear in 3rd when you are hard on the throttle. I can get it to fully engage the gear sometimes but I have to hold the shifter in place or it will push into neutral. I don't know what to do now short of pulling the trans.

bad synchro??

That's what I'm guessing, I don't know what else it could be. It doesn't easily go into gear without the clutch pressed in so the synchros do work but it feels like the shifter doesn't fully engage 3rd. It could also be a bent shift fork. It will go into 3rd fully and not pop out but half the time when you hold it in third it will still kick out of gear when I floor it. If it stays like this it will likely break soon, I'm wondering if I have a tooth missing or something causing the engagement issue. I will try to put some new trans fluid maybe something thicker like lucas for the hell of it, current gear oil in it is not old but it is just the stuff from the barrel we sold at Mazda (golden west).

and positive that the trans mount and rear mount are good right? thats really the only other simple solutions i can think of. just the little things before trying to dive into something big. it would suck having to take out the trans. and rebuild.
