What have you done to your MSP today?

Unichip is plug and play. AFC requires you to splice into your wiring harness. Unichip can adjust timing an AFC can not. AFC has software anyone can use, unichip needs to be tuned at a unichip dealer.

Okay, so not just any performance shop can tune on a Unichip?

Any shop that has the needed software usually can. Go to unichips website, I bet they have a listing by state who is affiliated with them.

Just tried that and nothing came up within the state of Missouri or within 500 miles of my zip code. So does the Unichip basically replace the stock ECU?

more than likely because it is 100 % plug and play. No splicing at all and you pretty much plug it in and forget about it.

no, unless you are authorized to get the software, you will have to send the unit to an authorized Unichip tuner for tuning. That's why I never went with it. If you plan on doing a lot of modding, you will be doing a lot of mailing off for tuning to get the most out of your mods. So, you are paying for the tune, which can get pricey plus the cost of shipping. Shipping isn't much, but not worth it IMO.

But doesn't the Unichip come with more tuning capabilities such as Fuel/timing?

those capabilities are only accessible by an authorized tuner. There are two maps on the Unichip. One map is a more aggressive map, I believe due to the timing. You can probably get those same capabilities if you can find a used SSFTC if you really want timing control. I strongly believe whatever your goals are can be reached with whatever you decide to go with. The SSAFC is more readily available and has tons of support here on the forum. The Unichip I think is starting to become dying solution. I hardly hear about it anymore and don't really know of many people using it now. Not saying it's a bad unit. It does it's job like anything else. It just lacks the ease of tuning for the end user. In the end, it's your choice. Easy installation, plug and play/forget with the sacrifice of availability for tuning or minor splicing with major forum support and easy tuning for the end user and/or a shop.

Unichip can actually tune ignition, not just retard it, which is all the SSFTC can do. If you were in an area with an authorized tuner I would definitely reccomend the Unichip. It worked great on my car, but the nearest unichip tuner to me is like 8 hours away, so I had to go stand-alone (well parallel EMS if you want to get technical).

So I was all set to buy this kit because people were picking it up for $399 and of course the price changed.....by $600!!!!

I've got them, but decied I should pick up another set and planned on doing so in a couple of weeks, but **** that...

I guarantee they were like, "oh s***, people are buying the hell out of these, let's raise the price" but unfortunately for them, they probably just slammed the door in their own face.

Yeah I sent them an email, doubt it will do much. That kit is exactly what I want and at that price even more so...I should have bought it last week when it was still that price. **** me.

The people with the 03 I've looked at just dropped it by $500... This makes me believe even more that I can get it for $2000.. They started out at $3500, then $3300, now $2700. They told my friend when he looked at it two weeks ago they'd take $2700 without him even asking. So, I'm just gonna wait it out a little longer. Worse case is someone buys it, but it really doesn't matter because it's not like I need the car or want it THAT badly.

yeah, something is up...change it back to $400 and I'm in.
