What have you done to your MSP today?

breaks squeak... idk, I just kinda accept it as part of the deal. Its possible your pads are worn. and if you don't have the squeak stop shims in there they definitely will. Your other option would be to put copper grease on the back of the pad.

Hopefully will be getting some of my s*** installed that has been sitting around for too long.

-shifter bushings
-engine mount and inserts
-new valve cover

hmm, ya I will try to grease, I think it is pretty dry, and since it was taken out a few times, the mechanic guy didn't re grease them, what are the squeak stop shims, I have whatever was stock in them, the springs, and those little bent metal things that the break pads slip onto

I hope you are installing the shifter busings yourself.. that was the easiest install I have ever done, took 5min if that

I messed around with that 3m carbon vinyl stuff. Looks pretty cool. Not sure how long I will keep it on but I am curious to see how it holds up.

Way to wait AFTER the car show to do that... n00b

@MSP03.5 - I really like it on the back bumper!! I might do the same...

haha...like I said it's all been sitting around and I couldn't get them installed tonight again, but I'm told tomorrow for sure. I should have done the valve cover myself but my dad convinced me that I needed a torque wrench. Silly guy...he knows corvettes but he sure doesn't know imports lol.

imho, your dad's right. If it isn't necessary to use a torque wrench, why does Mazda publish the torque specs for it?

you can get one of those strange cheapo ones from autozone, there not really cheap, but its the long one with the bar and the long needle thing that points to the torque you have, it's weird but that's the one I have, haven't really used it though... not sure how accurate it is..I just make sure things are tight

oh and msp03.5 youll find that the stuff will hold except for when it gets humid, like this summer lol, (if it is the same stuff my brother had used on the interior parts in his old benz, after a little while it kinda bubbles)

Lol, I know MANY people who done torque things, they just torque engine internals, because really now... Its the most important thing. But everything else they just tighten till the point they think its right.

But to each their own.

Well dino told me that the torque specs are like 15ft/lbs and that most torque wrenches don't do less than 20. Does that sound right?

Not sure what the specs are but I did follow the sequence suggested in the manual and just tightened the cover bolts w/o a torque wrench. They are real easy to snap so I would just tighten them good and check and retighten them again in a few days. Don't forget your RTV in the corners.

this is my general feeling. I own a torque wrench, but VERY rarely use it.

You will have to get an in/lb wrench and just multiply by 12. Thats what I had to do when I was installing the head on my jeep. The studs were ft/lb and the rocker arms were in/lb.

anobody know the part number for the missing cap?
