picked up my gaskets for the steedspeed install today. i got the mani to engine gasket, and mani to turbo gasket. but now i read on dandan2's "new goodies" thread that he's getting a turbo to s-pipe gasket...and me being a dumbshit didn't order that. do i really need it?
today i tried for the fourth time to replace the bushings on my front sway bar. first three times didn't even get a bolt to turn. this time i got the driver's side bracket and bushing off, but can't even come close to putting the bracket back on with the new bushing in place. gyaaaaaaaaarghhh! how can this be so difficult?!
PB Blaster FTW.... are you sure you got the right bushings? Cuz I fought mine some, but it wasn't all that horrible. But I did have to re-order the rear bushings cuz the vendor who shall not be named on this forum sent the wrong one.
Not if you don't separate them, unless you're already nervous about exhaust leaks.
Oops... just saw it'd already been answered... Oh well, at least we agree.
So can anyone fill me in on these iON springs I have? Someone said they were specifically designed for the MSP? I'm not sure how I feel about the progressive rate springs in the rear. I want the car to sit correctly, but I don't want too harsh of a ride. Its very comfortable, yet sporty as it is now, and I would hate to ruin that...
i had a feeling that i could get away with not separating them, just wanted to be sure. but i feel better now that i got an answer from the intelligent wagonbacker and yourself. i'm also pretty positive that the exhaust leak is in the manifold so the only thing about not unbolting the s-pipe is that i already bought 2 arp kits so i'm going to have some left over X(
thats what progressive springs are for... almost word for word. they allow you to drop the stance of the car, and maintain a higher spring rate for good handling, but have a lower spring rate section to give a better ride.
The ONLY issue comes in when the spring transitions from the lower to higher spring rate... some people don't like the.... "squirllyness" at that transition... (I know, highly technical term)...
I say give em a shot, if you don't like em, the worst that happens is you go back to the old springs. Just don't realign until you decide on which springs you prefer.
I know how progressive rate springs perform, I had Espelirs on my old car and loved it. My concern comes from the fact that the MSP, particularly with the AXR fix, is a bit more tail happy than my old car. The problem with progressive rate rear springs is that if you hit a bump mid corner, or the corner is off-camber/goes over a rise, you can get in a lot of trouble, really really quick. I'd prefer to NOT wreck my car.
I'm thinking of selling my iONs or at least trading them for something a bit better, but I don't know what that is yet.
Any suggestions?
if you like the stance of my car I'd gladly trade you my spools fronts + cash... I'm using the stock rears.
Any particular reason you don't want your spools? Is there any harm in mixing/matching spring sets?
hey jeff i will buy the ion fronts if wagonbacker just wants the rears
