What have you done to your MSP today?

Yesterday I took the MSP to the local SCCA event and took first place in the Road Tire class. Empty victory though because my main competition didn't show up. They were probably put off by the weather forecast, but it turned out to be a decent day.

Mazdaspeed2oo35 do you have a seatbelt pad above your manifold? Thats just asking to catch fire and ruin your whole investment, unless u have it there just for the pics.

nice job on the car though. Lots to look at.

i asked him the same thing tony. he only had it there to dry it off lol. Quick start up and idle @ operating temps and the pad was dry haha.

hahahaha. the mistery of the Mazdaspeed seat belt pad is solved... yeah i only put it there to dry it off quickly and for pics...

ahh good, cause i was sweating for a second there.

hahaha thanks tony.. any updates of your car.. bro you car is so different from others man. i like it alot, i like different stuff.. why dont you share with us some fresh pics of that beast of yours !!!!

thanks, i appreciate the compliment. I love looking at yours too. So much stuff done, id love to see what its like having all that power in a msp. Im a big fan of those who do what others dont as well. like yours.

ill take some pics this weekend. I just did the 626 mani, which has worked out really well, especially once i can tune the car. i have no way of logging the wideband thanks to autometer, so i cant really tune it. im running about 10.5 afr to redline, so theres some power to free up.

I think this summer im going to fiberglass a box into the corner for my 12" and save some trunk space.

Wait..what? Mental Addiction is up and running again?

I knew his statement would cause some confusion.

Mazdaspeed2oo35, do you have any close up shots of your flex wastegate pipe? Is yours a dump pipe or do you have it plumbed back into the exhaust?

Well when i first started these modification addiction to my Mazdaspeed and knowing from others the pros and cons of these car, i never felt the need to sell it or get something else to have fun or to make power, i have learned that what easy comes easy goes, there are people that just give up and buy and sweat so much other cars like the EVOs ( My respect for the owners ) , STis , SRT-4s, and they just dont know how fun and the most important thing UNIQUE these cars can really be and how proud they can make you feel. When i first started to get info and advices from people all i was getting was negative answers, i wanted to build even though i didnt do all these my self and did pay a Performance shop to the the hardcore stuff, a different car, with stuff that nobody had try before at least for a daily driving Protg, i still remember when i said i wanted to make a monster msp with real big turbo, something different from the common GT28RS and similar, all i got was, thats useless, worthless, you are not going to have traction, turbo too big for the engine, no reliability or daily driving comfort, you know and all of the with that money you can get something better, well now i look back and realize that all of that money, blood, sweat and tears i have invested in these car were well worth it, probably with the money i have invested in my car plus the price of the car new when i bought it, i could of got a Lancer EVO MR Fully loaded, and Sti or any other fully loaded model. but the feeling of owning a Protg like these you wont get it in any other car . plus where is the Fun to buy a super car, when you can beat one with a less expensive one !!! the fun of modding up a car is to make it better. yeah at the end of the race the guy still own a super-car, but also the feeling you get when you beat one is just Priceless.... just my .02

I mean how many MSPs you see with what you have done to yours ???? that just right there makes you feel different and proud Tony...

Oh everything isn't at once, I have this all planned I just hate waiting but its all good:

year one: fix problems - check
year two: make reliable - check
year three: handling/little more power
year four: style (like it really needs it...)
year five: entertainment

then the car is paid off and I can laugh as I get to have one of the coolest cars in the area...

haha when the car is finished early next year and i can actually start saving money again instead of spending it on the motor

Well, more work done today:

I agree 120%. Im the same way.

If someone has plans for the car and follow through I have tremendous respect for you. Even if you don't do the work, it doesnt matter. You had a goal and a vision and you met it. Not everyone is handy so I understand sometimes you have to get some help. I mean there are exceptions, like those who make those rediculous cars with 400 lbs of fiberglass to make their del sol look like a grazing buffalo. Those kinda cars are just a waste of talent and money.

You have a vision for the car and followed through with it and i respect that. I love that you didnt cut corners. If you did, everyone can tell cause you wouldnt be putting down the numbers you are. I coudlnt tell you how many times ive heard how im wasting my time, and money and blah blah blah. What do you do though, those people to me arent in the true spirit of things. I like a challenge. Actually, when you take your time and do things right, this car isnt too bad. I mean the engine can blow at any time and so can the lsd but i knew that before i untightened one single bolt.

You just have to take the car for what it is. Its not designed from the ground up for boost, so u have to treat it that way. It will make things alot easier lol
