What have you done to your MSP today?

You guys make me sick. My engine bay is not nearly as clean as it should be. Of course, not having the exhaust mani heat shield makes it look dirty because the mani itself is not appealing to the eye. However, I don't need to be warned that it's hot. I know it is.

Gotcha.

Do you have a quatitative number for how much of a difference the injen made compared to stock? You're one of the few people I've heard who say it made a difference. Either way I'm probably gonna keep the stock box on there...

I don't have numbers my self but years ago they compared the aem cai to the injen cold air intake...the injen was the only one that actually made power...I believe it was somewhere in the 5whp range over stock.

Our intake setup isn't a bottle neck the smic is like was stated...however the panel filter sucking in hot air from the engine bay is the problem.

As a dues-paying member of the Oregon chapter of OCD, I salute you(nana).
I need to get busy on mine again... I thought it looked pretty good until I saw yours...

Dude, yours looks awesome! If you have the spare couple of $$ try the stuff I listed above. It works really well, and once you apply the Engine Dress-up stuff, it makes it SUPER easy to keep clean. It prevents rusting and also lays down a little wax, so dust and whatnot just wipes off.

Well the heat shield also protects your hood and keeps the heat from the turbo contained. Might wanna replace that. Its not just to tell you its hot... (hi)

THANK YOU PHEN(front lip) and Corey(rear lip)

I've used the stuff Damian. Works great, just take your time and do A LOT of light coats...

The clear is the hardest though.. its a b**** to get right...

thanks fellas. i agree with the looks. changed it night and day. now i just need to paint it.

jeff-thanks for the heads up. i'll be keeping this in mind. light primer?or dark?

Well the piece that I did (my old lip) came black molded. I suggest doing a light primer to help you gauge coverage when you paint. Whenever you do it, I'd be happy to swing over there and help you out. I also suggest practicing on the rear lip first since that will be slightly less conspicuous(sp?) than the front.

werd up. i've painted a ton of stuff. i just wanna make sure on the primer color. my girlfriends car parts i painted. the front had dark primer-came out great. the light primer made the paint really light.. which pissed me off. i didn't think about it till i saw the actual stuff dried. i was like AHHHHH

Well remember, the parts I painted were going on a white car, so a light primer makes sense. You might want to go with the darker primer for the lazer blue, but more coats will compensate a bit... Its anyone's guess I suppose...

As promised, my engine bay... Don't hate:

So THAT's what a stock airbox looks like! ;)

Get rid of that exhaust manifold heat shield -- or paint it! That thing really does make or break the appearance of the engine bay.

Hopefully you can keep the bay in that condition. But since your MSP came from Texas, where they don't have snow -- it's gonna be a challenge up here.

Damian, I know you're gonna think I'm picking on you -- but y'think you could not post the same EXACT thing in two threads?

http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4793290&postcount=155

I mean, I understand you want people's thoughts and whatnot, but there's no need to double-post like that.

BTW, the lips helped a LOT!

Holy poop she lives!! I thought you forgot about us after you've gone all ballar on us!

Yeah, this winter will take its toll on the engine bay, but I should be able to maintain it at least.

As for the heat shield, if you saw how clean it was in person, you'd change your mind on the appearance. It looks GOOD.

You going up for any games this season and are we gonna play anytime soon. (BTW, has B popped the question yet?)

I'm on here every day, crazy -- I just don't post all that much unless I really feel the need to. ;)

B and I have tickets for the first home game -- we'll be in State College all day on the 5th! I can't WAIT! I'll have to see if I want to drive the G up -- mebbe we can haz a photoshoot somewhere around the stadium. :D

And goddammit, why does everyone keep asking me if B's popped the question? Does everyone on the internet somehow know something that I don't know?! Rofflecopterz.

+1
Choose the primer based on the color you're painting over and thinking about the color you're gonna cover the primer up with, so its easier to tell where you've been when you paint.

I picked up the Head from the machine shop this afternoon, came back flawless and ready to be installed this week also ordered the TurboXS Knock Light with TurboXS Bosch Knock Sensor..

LOL... I don't know anything, but I just figured he would have gotten off his ass by now! s*** or get off the pot man! Guess that means I still have a shot... (hi)

I don't have tix yet to the game, but I have no worries that I'll be able to find some up there. I'm excited for football season too. If I make it up, I'll be there saturday and sunday, so we'll DEFINITELY have to do photos. I have some good places around there we can hit up!

Those are starting to become my sentiments, too .. but I'm not quite sure how to 'gracefully' put that into words to him. Y'know me, I struggle to not be obnoxious most of the time, and I don't want to be -- hey asshole, put a ring on my finger or I ain't wastin' anymore of my time! (crazy)

And maybe I'll be able to deliver your MSP's winter shoes SOME DAY SOON. Cough-hint-cough.
