What have you done to your MSP today?

Just did a coolant flush and cleaned my spectre air filter. Runs much better now.

As promised, my engine bay... Don't hate:

Only one major blemish under the hood... Can j00 spot it?

At the train station this morning. I waxed the front clip last night:

how long you keeping stock airbox and hardpipes?

Prolly for a long time. The hot-pipe is a samco replacement, and if anything, I'll finish off the samco kit. From what I read, replacing the stock airbox/filter doesn't do a whole lot for our cars, so for me, its not worth the money. The hardpipes will clean it up a bit and get rid of the plastic, but besides the hotpipe (which is the crutial one) they're just for looks anyways...

Built to last..duralast!

LOL

I am STILL waiting on my pistons... I havent heard from Ken and I sent him an email again last week.

how much will those pipes cost ya for a complete kit? :) im prolly keepin my stock airbox too

jeff will u clean my engine bay? lol

Lol, if you got the money sure... but you might want to get it steam cleaned first...

Not sure, I need to see if Samco even MAKES the full kit... I assumed they did since I could get the hot-pipe, but I'll be disappointed if they don't.

Last I remembered they only made the hot pipe. Main reason would be the length and weight of a cold pipe would make it hard to be successful.

A injen make quite a bit of difference compared to the stock box...especially with a stock side mount. And samco only every made the hot pipe and rad. Hoses for the car (the stock msp rad hoses are wrapped sillicon anyways so no point there)

Gotcha.

Do you have a quatitative number for how much of a difference the injen made compared to stock? You're one of the few people I've heard who say it made a difference. Either way I'm probably gonna keep the stock box on there...

I'd say the gains of the injen can be had by stickin a cone filter on the maf... aside from decibels, I wouldn't say removing the airbox showed notable gains... I'd say the choke point on that side of the engine is the SMIC anyway.

Which is getting installed next weekend (I hope) anyways...

theres a local MSP with a MAM mani, and stock airbox. either the guy was a moron when he built the car, or he elected to spend money where it mattered. I'll let the masses be the judge.

Iirc, Samco's "kit" includes the hot pipe and the radiator hoses; no cold pipe.

Ohhhhh... guess I shoulda read all the way through b4 posting. This was already addressed.

But regarding the intake, it is often the first mod done, and people who do it don't immediately run to the dyno to check gains in hp. But I can tell you I noticed low end gains immediately. Much less hesitation on the bottom end. It makes sense... more air flow and colder, denser air at that; if the motor can breathe better it can make more ponies. K & N makes a replacement filter for the stock airbox. If I was set on keeping it stock I would def replace the filter in the box with one that allowed better air flow.

FlyHawaiian - Nice engine bay. Nice and Clean.

The injen only makes the turkey louder. Not sure about its gains. Maybe just a few hps. I wouldnt recommend the stock piping on a upgraded smic like Custommsp. Because the endpoints are made of almuinum the pipes just slide off. Well that has happened to me going up hill too :(
