I have been running a relocated MAF for years now - that isn't the problem. Their BOVs leak around the piston therefore air is drawn from ambient, through the vacuum line and dumped in the intake manifold at idle. This is equivalent to having a vacuum leak at the intake manifold or a small tear in a vacuum line. It doesn't matter where your MAF is - you'll still have a vacuum leak. FWIW, there was only about a 1.5-2 mm Hg decrease in vacuum with the BOV installed but that was enough to give my car spasms about once every two minutes and occasionally it would stall. Tonight I'm going to put my BoostSciences RDV back on and just let it VTA as I don't have a recirc port anywhere on the intake. This should do well enough until I can take my car back to the shop where they'll weld on an HKS fitting.did you not relocate the maf to after the bov?
Well if you can keep your BOV shut at idle then you wouldn't have any problems. The BOV is "leaking" air from the IC pipes before the MAF and dumping it in the intake manifold afterwards. This air isn't being measured by the MAF so it is essentially a vacuum leak even though the entire system is sealed. In your case, even if it was leaking it would just be moving air that has already been measured.if your running a relocated maf sensor you dont need to have it recirc then, just cap off your intake (unless you don't like how that bov sounds in vta)
as for the vacuum leak....that is pretty crappy! I'm running the type-s from turboxs and I didn't have any idling issues, maf in stock location =(
I'm not recirculating. Where do you keep reading this?your right about my maf in stock location, forgot about that haha
but I'm still unsure why you don't want to vta? you can vta without an issue on the relocated maf
Oh yeah, my comment about the RDV is that I was going to hook it back up so the car will be driveable - I'm just going to leave the recirc nipple open to the atmosphere so it acts like a BOV until I can get something to replace it.
Completely different FMIC kit now - I don't have a proper spot/flange for the RDV anymore. I'm just going to run it until I can get something proper. I know for a fact the RDV doesn't leak this way I can determine the driveability with a VTA without actually having a VTA.why not just keep the rdv is what I mean lol
My only problem with the Synapse is that it is so damned big! The sound is actually one of the reasons I didn't go with the HKS in the first place. Then again, if this next BOV works it's going to be crazy loud (Type H-RFL). I have to ask, did you buy the HKS new or was it used; old style or new?
blew a tire on a freeway on my way home from work.... and since it was on basically a bridge with minimal shoulder, I drove on the next exit, to a gas station right across the street...
lug wrench (I think the lug wrench was 21 mm and my lugs are 19, dunno if it woulda cleared the opening for the lug nuts anyway) doesn't work on the aftermarket wheels the car came with... jogged to home depot (5 blocks through a less than good neighborhood) and picked up a bad 1/2" ratchet and socket set for 40 bucks... Had a group of 3 black guys go "Hey Pimp!" repeatedly both ways (I was dressed business casual for work)
changed the tire... car won't move... I give her some more gas and it moves, grinding the spare tire (which I realize doesn't fit) against the caliper... at this point some black guy walks up with a 40 in hand and tells me I need to jack the car up... there was no wheel on at the time (lol) thanks buddy!
so I grab a cinder block, put that under the front, steal the wheel off the back and slap her on the front... put the spare on the rear, where it grinds, but turns with hand force... so I said **** it, I wasn't about to leave my car in that neighborhood over night and didn't really have any other good options at hand at this point... 45 mins away from my nearest friend. drove home.. by the time I got home the grinding sound was minimal.
so now I picked up a set of 15" winter wheels off of a local member for 200 (2 seasons of use on them).. and changed it again.
did I mention that it was raining through all of this?
omgf, bad day...
its a good thing you didnt move very far with the spare on the front before putting it on the back. you are not supposed to drive with a spare tire up front because it will mess up the lsd

it only woulda been a 20 or so mile drive home anyway...
with a LSD you should not get the one wheel peel. that means that if you get on the car you should leave two black marks instead of just one mark.
