What have you done to your MSP today?

theres no way a high flow cat will casuse you to lose that much psi and horsepower. i ran catless and catted and its hardly noticeable at 200whp (about where im at), so its prolly a 5-7whp loss from the cat. even at 500 horse power, say we double the loss, thats still only 15whp. something is afoot.

I know it sounds impossible and crazy, but i have no leaks, no exhaust manifold cracks, nothing is wrong with the car, this happened right after installing this Cat, probably is installed backwards, i didn't noticed any arrows with the direction of the Cat, but car was boosting fine, and working fine. i mean the car pulls hard just wont go over 10 psi, and it feels like something is holding the car from making power. feels like there is something blocking the exhaust and the turbo can't breath, plus now is very slow spooling, it spools at around 4.5k rpm, when without the cat is at 3.9k i didn't change anything else, no settings, nothing, just removed my test pipe and install the cat, that's it. once i pass inspection I'm going to remove the cat and see if everything is back to normal, which i think is going to be... my afr's are perfect, exhaust temp, Vac readings, boost settings, Meth Settings, everything is perfect..

there has been a wideband int he FS forum

No, i beleive you, i should have rephrased it. No properly working high flow cat will cause that loss.

I hope you figure it out

best thing to do as stated above is to remove the cat, and check it out.

Just went and bought 20 bucks worth of stainless steel studs, washers, nuts, and some allen bolts to replace the bad stock hardware. I cant tell you how many times ive stripped a stud or snapped one on the j pipe/s pipe connection. That wont be happening anymore

those are just awful, even when u get allen bolts. that cast iron is brutal on threads after all that heat cycling. I had to retap one of the holes once, what a chore. cast iron is an unforgiving *****.

ive not had a problem one.. just take em out when they are still warm

i have had problems both ways warm and cold, i think from factory they crossthread them, especially the s pipe to turbo. everything i replaced with nicer hardware comes out fine now though.

wow.. even when i swapped spipe to new turbo.. no issues..

i envy your luck lol. even with pb blaster and going back and forth real slow to work it off still had problems with some of them. i mean the stud came out before the nut did. if that doesnt spell crossthread i dunno what does lol all the msp's ive worked on had at least one that hated me.

that sucks bro.. perhaps i have just been lucky.. lol... at least with that part.. now keeping the bastard on the road is another story.. haha..

Just ordered my banjo bolts that i needed for the coolant lines and my turbo gaskets that i needed

Good deal. I noticed my shifts were a bit smoother after this mod and there was less hesitation. Just make sure you leave the plastic air-straightener mesh in place on the MAF. (thought)

Alright, I didn't murder it out. I went with the gut and decided on gunmetallic.
