What have you done to your MSP today?

well I put in the order for parts to rebuild the engine, all the pumps/oil squirters/belts/gaskets/rods/pistons/flywheel/clutch ect.. so now just need to get the exhaust mani in from Pope once he gets those flanges at some point, and in about 3 weeks the parts will be in, and hopefully in 4 weeks, my car will be done! and I just hope I can find a use GT28RS on here to buy so I can stick that in there too... lotta money but I'm glad to finally be doing it

get: NGK ZFR6F-11 platniums

sadly, I've bought them once, but I've recommended them so many times I have the model number memorized.

as for me:
have on the way:
tribute washer nozzles
tribute fender markers
bluebat smoke overlays for corners and rear turn/reverse
a switchblade key/fob
edit: and a spare remote I may or may not resell... cheap on ebay FTW

also have a couple of filters for lenses and a camera bag, notable here as its mostly to take pics of the MSP. lol

Should look good!

@theEZV...Or you could do it like I did.... I bought a stock '05 Subaru RS and a totaled '05 STI with 17k original miles and did a full swap; drivetrain, hubs, Brembos, interior, etc. It took months, but now I have an STI that insures like an RS with very low miles, and I'm in it less than $17 thousand after selling off all the extra parts from both cars.

Here, setup for the mountain with my winter wheels & roof rack; gotta love all-wheel drive!

So upon further inspection of the msp this weekend, I determined the frame is pressed against the crank. I have to pull the motor for the car to be fixed so that's not a big deal. What all could have been damaged? I know the thrust bearing is probably toast, can I just assume the rod and mains are bad now too? And can I just throw new bearings in and call it a day? Or do we think it's just motor build time? I just want to get it back on the road before the end of the year, and if it's motor build time...that will take a little longer

only way to know for sure if A) take it apart, or b) just throw it in the car after the frame is repaired and see how it runs.

when you pull the motor check the crank for end play. You will know if your thrust bearings are bad by how much play you have. you might need a new crank pulley depending on how hard yours was hit. other then that i really cant think of anything that would be affected.

So y'all don't think the mains and rod bearings are ******? And I have an extra crank pulley, I'll just use it since mine got damaged

i personally don't the thrust washers are sandwiched in between the crank and one of the main journals the only thing that could happen is they come loose and get dropped in your oil pan. if they did it would be easy to tell. when you pull your motor out push the crank pulley in and pull it out and check the play.

I know dude. Whenever I haz money's to buy them I will. Lol

looks like I may have to get my wisdom teeth removed, so that will hit my fix the msp fund hard.

Why did it take me researching parts for the MS3 for me to realize that I probably should have been running an oil catch can on the MSP too??? LOL

Ebay FMIC! i used a non-traditional routing, Gonna make a thread about it. The mazdaspeed stencil is a bit on the "uncle bens" side, I know, but its fun. I'll probably paint it all black later.
