Well, the car is once again moving under it's own power... Just have to install the new P5 radiator. Get to go to the local meet tonight that I haven't been to in a month.

Did you hear about those P5 Rad issues before? Keep us posted on temps/review. I wasn't aware it was different, I was gonna do fmic n oeP5 til I can grab a Mishi.

From crash91? Other than that one, I've not seen other people complain of problems, though I can see what the problem would be. However, I've seen numerous underhood pics of MSPs with P5 radiators, so musn't be too much of an issue.

save your money and just wait for the mishimoto. Why spend the money on a rad you don't need just to turn around and save to replace it?
 
took out the cupholders to clean and forgot to put them back in...

& recorded a vid on my way home from work cause i wanted to get a good audio clip of it's sound.
 
I entered it into this months MOTM! Wish me luck guys! I hope I can win this one D: haha Never had luck with these cause someone always enters that I like as much as mine. LOL
 
Oh and to add I just dropped a 2003.5 Spoiler off at my friends to get painted Black Mica ;)

also getting a new front and rear lip off a 2003.5 to get painted black Mica aswell. Booyah! always changing it up.
 
WOW! and i just made a legitimate "JDM" purchase for the MSP... super stoked about it
Pic in my build thread of it just sitting on my deck. I need to pick up a trunk opener thingie (the bars that open the trunk) for a non spoiler trunk cause my carbon trunk does not work well with the stock MSP ones so I removed it awhile ago. Now with this spoiler I should be able to get that weaker one to work out. :D I want to be able to use the trunk again. Soon my outside of my car will be to my liking. It has gone though a lot. (Oh and FINALLY updated my sig.)

I will vote for you based on your decision to move to a superior spoiler and bumper design :D
 
Washed and vacuumed the MSP today, also cleaned the TB.

The stock protege radiator will be just fine and you will never notice the difference. It flows a little less coolant but the car won't overheat that is ridiculous. Plenty of members use that radiator. I would recommend the Mishimoto, I have one and it was less than the stock replacement radiator plus it came with a higher radiator cap.

You can use the stock MSP rad hoses with the N/A Protege radiator for whoever was asking that.

I wanna get rid of the useless SMIC, aaand I don't like the bracket adapters to keep MSP rad w/o smic. but mostly I THOUGHT full size was better and they're only 50$ off eBay. Not too bad a waste of money....

Is it possible to swap thermostat to a lower one? What do we have 180? Running 200 and raising temps to 220 w P5 like crash was saying? (Can anyone confirm temps w P5?) Use a 160 mishi thermo and wed be back in 200 range?

I run a 170 degree t-stat from napa... Stay away from the 160 fail safe one.. it will fail in a week or so and stay stuck open.
 
Have driven the MSP about 60 miles since last night. No noises, no MIL, no smells, no leaks... The only problem I had was my intercooler piping coming off 3 times last night. I'm so glad to be back in the car... It's like a full-blown race car compared to the 4-cylinder 4Runner. LOL. I was really easy on it for the first 50 miles, then this morning on the way to work I got on it some. The original motor made it to 176998 miles and the motor that went in it had 122k on it but did have a tapping from a chewed up bearing, so I put in a new crankshaft, bearings, water pump, timing belt, timing rollers, timing tensioner spring, spark plugs, radiator, thermostat, and of course new gaskets/seals.

Now I've just got to get my next extra motor.
