What have you done to your MSP today?

Ahh ok. Yea I was reading the wiki on them and the older ones are definitely way better performance and looks than the newer ones that I still see every now and then. Since you do auto-x, a fast spooling turbo is definitely a good choice. But I'm a believer that it definitely causes problems with our already weak trans, so I usually don't step on it until I'm closer to 4k just to be on the safe side.

On a side note, I really don't think a CAI provides any additional HP with a turbo setup. If it did, why would so many people just put a filter right on the turbo and skip piping altogether?

Yeah, my bro definitely has the better platform.

I don't know about the CAI, I thought a magazine did the test and made about 5whp more with CAI over the SRI, but I could be mistaken. Though recently I have thought about putting a filter right on the turbo (or just a mesh screen since it's not anywhere near a DD), cause I don't need no stinkin MAF. I have also thought about moving the IAT sensor post meth injection so the intake air charge temps are calculated correctly, but that may be opening a whole new can of worms.

Moving the IAT is definitely a good idea. I had planned to do that with my EMS-4 so I bought the AEM sensor that is threaded. It comes with a bung that you can just weld on to the cold pipe right before the throttle body and should provide much more accurate temps. Only downside I could see from that would be the necessity to re-tune the car.

and for.the most part yes I do have those modifications, and a damn good tune on split second ( I know its not a standalone I.wish.it was)

Well I have all those mods except the IM, and I will be dyno tuning on the 10th, so we'll see. I tell everyone it makes about 170whp, I may not be able to say that anymore.

Quick question; Anyone with a stand-alone switch to a bigger throttle body? I think with stand-alone it shouldn't be an issue, and I've been toying with the idea of a custom sheet metal IM (of course adding direct port meth inj.) and a Q45 throttle body (80MM).

if you have all those mods and your pushin 14psi im sure your makin a lil closer to 200. donr under estimate this car. on a good tune youd be very surprised.

ATTENTION!!!!

OK guys, I have been letting a little bit of street racing talk go on in this thread hoping that it would die off and not be mentioned any further. But I feel I should step in and remind everyone that Talking about or posting videos of street racing on the forum is against the rules. So please keep it off the forums. Dont be talking about how many car lenghts you put on your buddies car or anything like that. I would appreciate it if every one complies.

Now that everyone has been reminded BLATANT DISREGARD OF THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION!

I have seen in the past people talk about track racing when indeed we all know it was on the street. I will also issue infractions for that. Please lets keep the forums fun and safe!

have you thought about makin a throttle body spacer with a meth injection nozzle there? my buddy is doing it for his jetta, seems easy.

where do we go to talk about legitimate racing, because that is what i enjoy. scca, 1/4 mile, that kind of stuff.

I am pretty sure there is a section on the forum, for track racing. BTW the talk to track racing here in this thread is not against the rules. We just want to keep it off the streets.

I think the cai may only increase performance on a msp with stock IC since it heat soaks so badly, with a fmic id be curious to see if there is any difference in temperature at all at the TB with a cai vs a short ram.

The ar on the gt28rs makes a big difference too. Most people get the .86 ( or whatever it is in the 80's) and that's where they get the top end from but later spool. Since mine was a dd and I don't race I got .64 and it spooled 10 psi about 2200 rpm. Granted the top end was lackluster but I prefer it down low anyhow. Feels more fun. I'd like to see how it spools on my current setup since my charge piping with intercooler is about 2 ft total. The stock turbo spools ridiculously fast as I have it now.

I agree. UnleSs you have really bad fan wash or heat management issues to where the Sri is sucking in all hot air I imagine the difference isn't huge. I'd rather keep it short as possible to give air the least path of resistance to the turbo.

With those mods and proper tune you definately better be over 170 haha.

As for the tb, as you said, with a standalone it shouldn't be an issue other than retuning and fabrication. I've heard of using bigger tb's but not that large. The ones I saw were stock ones bored out with a new butterfly valve.

People have dyno'ed over 200 at 10psi stock turbo, just bolt ons.

Oh, I know. It's just more fun low ballin' everyone.

Maybe slightly over 170.

The tune is there now, the AF's are great, 11.3-11.7 @ WOT the whole way. The only problem is sometimes at 14psi the J&S is pulling some timing, and other times it cuts the ignition completely, which means without it I would have grenaded the motor. Like I said it's getting a proper dyno tune on the 10th, so we'll see what bolt-ons gets you. I always expect the worse, so I'm thinking I'll be lucky to push 200whp. Anything over that is a bonus.

Well, running ~9.5psi right now. Hit fuel cut if it's not fully up to operating temperature. And I mean fully up to operating temperature. Anyone suggest a map in place of the superstock that may be better? It's running fine and my AFR's are right at 10.8-11, but if there's something better to run based on my mods, let me know. NOTE: I still have done basically nothing to the exhaust, so take that into consideration.

Yesterday I saw an R8 down the road from my shop at a gas station, and noticed it had carbon fiber inlays. I pulled into the gas station to look at it, because there is one here locally that got a FULL carbon fiber package courtesy of Audi of North America because they needed an R8 for the Atlanta International Auto show and at the time it was the only one close. They even put carbon fiber wheels on it (he didn't get to keep those). Anyway... HE WAS PUTTING ******* LOW-GRADE IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really wanted to bust out my phone and walk up to the pump and take a picture of him doing this!!!

would hate to see good people get in trouble, since this warning was posted only a couple of posts before you
