What have you done to your MSP today?

You can run 30psi+ once you are forged if it's built and tuned correctly. I have heard a lightweight flywheel is harder to drive especially in stop and go traffic, you have to use the clutch a lot more to take off. They do rev faster though. You are off to a great start. I wish I had $$$ to drop on this car like that.

I got an Exedy stage 1 clutch and Fidanza flywheel. It is so much nicer than the stock setup. You really don't need to make more than 250-275whp in these cars because you will have no traction after that.

+1 to Ricktalife!! I have that exact same combo and love it! Sure you need to shift a little faster but thats it really. I honestly think it made the car drive and feel peppier and all around changed the feel of the car.

I would not say you couldnt run 30psi but man honestly that is alot of boost. I would stay south of 300hp so the tranny isnt too much trouble.
Well, that's safe for the motor. The tranny certainly wouldn't last long! And the stock turbo wouldn't come close to that, but a forged motor could handle 30psi by itself.

I plan on going with an Exedy stage 1, not sure on the flywheel yet maybe a Mazdaspeed flywheel for a nice balance between stock and Fidanza. The stocker is holding well for 112k miles but it chatters quite a bit.

I saw my old msp today in a parking lot. It was a pretty depressing event. They just screwed the front plate directly into the front bumper, very crooked at that. The inside when I owned it was immaculate. Now, its full of garbage, cigarette packs everywhere (it had never been smoked in when I owned it), and the shifter counsel was scratched sooooooo bad, how does that even happen? I was going to wait for the person to meet them but, I had just worked 14 hours and wanted to go home so bad. I miss that car, and it made me wanna cry.

Got a message from Sam @ crossover today. My EMS-4 is all wired up to my extension harness and will be on its way back to me very soon.

Ok, need some help from the experts on my MSP

This just started this morning. As of yesterday all day the car drove and boosted fine.

This morning as we are leaving the house when I gave it some gas and it starts to get into boost the car jerks and hesitates and doesnt want to really go.

The car idles perfectly and drives fine under light load. As soon as you start to apply the throttle past a certain point when it starts to get into boost it starts doing this. My VAC reads perfectly normal so I dont think its a leak.

Any thoughts?

I dunno, but it's similar to my MSM so when you figure it out, let me know! Haha.

lol so far I'm thinking its the ignition system or the MAF. The turbo still boosts its just the car doesnt like it when that happens and starts jolting and hesitating so I'm hoping just mis-firing.

Hmm... I don't have a MAF. Next! LOL.

Any time mine acted up, i went straight for the plugs. It normally cleared it up.

"From my continual development for my own MSP, I have now the beta test firmware upgrade for complete sequential fuel injection for our cam sensor/cam gear.
There is no better ECU than a Haltech for the MSP. The firmware has our exact trigger and home pattern.
Gone are the days of having to modify the factory cam gear/sensor or swapping it with a 626 gear/sensor.
If you have a Sprint 500/Platinum1000/2000 and also want to beta test please post in here."

when i first bought my msp, it jerked around in boost. was my stupid coil packs :) they literally DIED one day while on the highway so i limped it back. had to go hunt down two coil packs in heavy rain and replace them. after that, the issue in boost was gone

99% coilpacks... although I had a cracked maf housing once from an overtightened t-bolt clamp. Also had the same reaction when my air filter position changed in the fender well and allowed water to run down onto the filter (2 cups poored out of my ic :O)

thanks for the comments guys! so having a 6 puck clutch and a good preasure plate whats the next breaking point in the transmission and what will it handle (hp) until it goes :P getting the shopping cart together for the forged internals now gotta wait till next pay check to click order though :( .... saying i want to run 20psi... ill put that at my goal is the trans ok at that? how about axels and crank? and what turbo to hold a constant 20psi? ... o yeah fuel to..

So, it's probably safe to say the new owner has beaten it more than I ever did? ;)

This MSP used to be at my GFs appartment complex and one day it disappeared. Now its on CL, i want to go see it because i heard it no longer had the turbo on it. Its not pretty, missing the stock wheel and it has a BC2 kit and a stock protege front bumper with 01-02 fenders.

When i first got my MSP it did that. New coilpacks and plugs improved it but i didnt gap them correctly, once I did it was fixed.
