What have you done to your MSP today?

I didn't do anything to my MSP, but I recruited a new forum member. Saw an MS3 in the parking lot at work and left a note on the windshield explaining the forum and my username. The guy sent me a private message so he's a new member now.

Got my custom exhaust on today. Sounds loud and deep, no fart can noise. Woot! (cabpatch)

Hey where'd you get your exhaust done and what exactly is your setup? Also what other mods do you have? I want to get mine done but don't want the fart canon.

The MSP will never sound like a fart can because of the turbo, it creates a different sound, i have a cheap muffler and bad piping work and it still sounds fine, granted it's not what i want at all, i wanna hear the turbo through the exhaust but it will never sound fart canned i promise

turbos are considered 1/3 of a muffler in terms of sound.

Had my Autometer Ultra Lite wideband put in. This is my first wideband and I have a couple questions. First, where should it have been hooked up? My mechanic put it in the turbo mani where the stock O2 was but I remember reading some where that might not be the most accurate spot. I have a Vibrant and am thinking it should have been hooked up some where on the exhaust. I searched for a how to for a wideband but found nothing. Now at idle it reads around 14.7, in boost it shoots to 10 and when I left off the gas it jumps over to 16, is this around where I should be and what are the numbers I should be aiming for when I go get it tuned? And just as some background I'm having a problem with my car overboosting which I've yet to figure out so if that might be affecting my numbers please take that into consideration. I have posted my problem over here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123667865&page=2
starting at post # 20 if you want to read up on it. I really need to figure that situation out so if any of you have some ideas please let me know.

Those readings sound just about dead on to what you would expect from a normal msp.. The only reason to put it farther away from the turbo into the exhaust would be to save the sensor from needing to be replaced so often.. Once its starts getting different readings from what you're normally used to and you havent changed anything, then it will be time to replace the sensor because it will have buildup on it..

Thats about the best I can explain it..

just about everyone puts the sensor in the J-pipe, that way you still have your stockers, the J-pipe has a plug that you take out then you put the sensor in there and when you tune it under WOT good numbers should be in the mid 11's

so wait if he put your wideband in the manifold where the **** did he put your primary o2 sensor? please tell me he didnt take it out and just unclip it from the harness.

Thanks guys, that is the sort of info I'm looking for. After I got my car back I asked him if it should have been hooked up to my Vibrant and he said maybe but it depended on how many 02 sesors I had. He thought I only had the one on the manifold. How many are there on the MSP? What could happen if he did just take out the primary sensor and unclip it from the harness?

the car would run like dookie, the msp has one in the mani and one in the cat, the wideband should go in the j pipe

the car has a primary and a secondary. the primary which is in the manifold is what the ecu uses to adjust fuel. the secondary o2 sensor is purely for emissions and it located in the midpipe between the 2 cats. i really hope your mechanic wasnt that much of a tool and just removed the primary and put the wideband in his place without hooking the primary back up in the dp or something.

Thanks again guys. Other than my overboosting issue and hitting fuel cut which was happening before installing the wideband, my car runs the same as it did so I'm going to have to go back and figure out what he did and relocate my wideband to my Vibrant. Now if any of you guys have the time to read up on my overboosting issue I would really appreciate the help but I don't want to continue cluttering up this thread with my problems.

And this was my 420th post...I will celebrate when I get home (smoke)
