What have you done to your MSP today?

Been trying to install my USB to Serial adapter cable for the past hour or so... sounds like my luck as of late. I don't understand why the **** everything has to be so difficult.

-The driver CD that came with it was shattered in the packaging. I did not touch it.
-Went to the website and found a driver (triple checked the model number)
-It detects the cable after installing the driver, but gives me a Code 10 (device cannot start)

Is it just telling me that the cable is useless until I plug it in to the car? **** it might as well go try now. Can't believe I've wasted this much time on a stupid cable.

edit: I kept the cable unplugged until the driver was installed, since that was the issue I had with the cable at my work.

Got em installed, Those things are so bright! Give me a few hours for pics!

Before:

After: They are so much brighter in person, it creates a white line on the ground that shoots away from the car. It looks really neat.

I am very pleased with the results. They would look awesome If i had some HIDs.

what OS and brand of cable?

wait, its not working while not plugged in? try plugging it in and see if it work?

you're funny. I meant I installed the driver before connecting the cable since that caused a problem with the last cable I used when I connected the cable before the driver. When I hook the cable up Windows will beep and recognize there is a cable, but it will not operate.

Did an oil change today. Car seems to be running better. Also slapped the TWM shifter bushings in. Not much different over stock but im sure its mroe beneficial at the track. I gotta order some rear rotors/pads. I think i got a warped rotor. I really want a BBK but i dont wanna use all the dough on it. haha. Oh, also gonna get the windshield replaced tomorrow.

i will be picking up a 2.5 inch j-pipe/midpipe catless on saturday. i dont know exactly which one it is but im getting it for $75

^^good deal man!

which rotor/pad combo do u guys suggest. Ive heard slotted is good. So im leaning toward Rotora rotors anf Hawk Hps pads.

LOL Yeah well I lasted a year, didn't I? No power mods though - I'm definitely not willing to sacrifice the longevity of the engine. The AFC is simply to get the car running correctly and smoothly, not for power purposes. I know a couple of places around here that can do the tuning for me, but for the time being, I'll probably upload a map from someone who is running similar mods to me (Vibrant + CustomMSP SMIC)

Unless you have one of those "magic" MSPs that puts up numbers that no one else with the same setup can touch, you should not expect 200whp from a vibrant and upgraded smic. I have the vibrant, custom smic, weaponR intake, turbohoses hot and cold pipes, Boost Sciences RDV, new wastegate and vac lines, and am boosting at 7.5 to 8. I dyno'd at 176 on Corksport's dyno. Derrick did say, however, that the use of an SSAFC with a good tune might make another 10%, which would put me at just over 190. The better news is the torque which was also at 176, a better gain than the gain in whp. But the best news of all? The changes I've made can definitely be felt on the "butt dyno"... its readout says "Wheeeeeeeee!"

there all relatively the same IMO

i have powerslot rotors and EBC greenstuff pads, braking is great
i can lock the wheels on command pretty much lol

I went with that same setup; Rotora slotted and Hawk HPS.. Awesome combination! What a difference it made over stock. Now I can't imagine ever needing a big brake kit, but then I'm not tracking my car either.

i was looking at the powerslots and ebc and they look pretty good. I think ill try out the rotora and hps. Yea bbk is kinda overkill unless im making 300+hp. Thx for the tips fellas.

~9 psi, CAI, 626 mani w/ thermal spacers, Turbohoses SMIC and DSM Convert hard pipes, Vibrant catless I got up to 213whp on a dynojet on a fairly hot slightly rainy day. Stock ECU.

You will need a touch more to get 200 with just Vibrant and SMIC. EM would be the biggest helper, as would catless. I noticed a pretty big gain when I removed mine.

Well, I called my motor guy and I can't drop it off until Monday. He's backed up I guess. Should'nt cost me more than 800 bucks for machine work to the head, the block, and major assembly.

I forgot to mention that I do have a Samco hot-pipe along with it and the ATP WGA, but both were replacements for failed parts. I've heard that the corksport dyno has typically read a little low and an intake will only give me 5 at the most. I'm curious as to what my car will put out, but a tune is definitely needed.
