fog has nothing to do with the wiper, just hit the defrost button. i've heard good things about rain-x but never tried it. but i've also owned several sedans which don't have rear wipers and it's never been a problem. don't know why the hatch would be any different...
It's all in how the wind runs down the back of the car. Sedans have a different degree on their back window and wind runs down it and blows the water off at speed. On the speed3 the spoiler changes the airflow so that it doesnt directly push the water off the rear window. Either way it isnt such a big thing you have two side mirrors as well and if its raining hard enough water will flow down and you'll be able to see anyway.
I think I've used my rear wiper a total of 3 times in the 4 years I've owned the car. Not a lot of water lands on it due to the spoiler and high speeds.
