What have you done to your MS3 today?

lol. I'm not saying the problem can't happen... just saying that the actual technical service bulletin was for 07 model year cars.

I know thats why I was confused when I saw that and I heard my noise from were it is. We'll know when I get my car back though! Then I have to re-install all my parts! O JOY!

Haha. Hopefully they will resolve it under warranty and get it back to you good-as-new. I didn't stock out when I had the tensioner problem... just went to a more mod friendly dealer. But I think they would have a problem with yours the way it was. DP & AP; they wouldn't take to kindly to that.

Today I waited patiently to hear about H3br3w_Ham3r's visit to the dealership... how sad is that? :)

Mazda reported back claiming they can only recreate the noise in 6th gear (BS!). They have to keep the car overnight as Mazda is asking the tech to perform special tests..... Thats all I got out of the service writer who of course was clueless.

That's sucks man. I am on pretty good terms with the shop foreman so I just always ask to talk to him.

At least they didn't immediately say they could tell it was modified and
void warranty :)

I don't see how they would know. Even if they see it was put back together different they don't know it was modded. Maybe I just looked for the issue for myself lol!

Do you still have the DP installed? Dealerships always rack a car to check for other concerns and possible issues related to the customers complaint. If they see that and the tech performing the diag is not one to let modded parts slip, he might try and push that. Otherwise, you may be ok.
If you are having VVT noise issues, it would only be at start up. If you here noises while driving and at any time there after, its most likely the Tensioner. It took me a good while with the help of another long time tech with a stethoscope to write off the VVT and find the tensioner making noise (Cloesly related to the same noise location believe it or not).

Its possible your Timing Chain tensioner has worked its way loose a click or two if it was damaged somehow, but even then, that would be stretching that possibility. Otherwise, theres nothing else to make noise. And as far as ive seen or know, Ive yet to see a TSB on the Timing chain. ;)

As for me, I just picked up my first mod for my Speed 3. Bought a CorkSport rear motor mount insert. Ile throw it in tomorrow. With the use of a rack at work, should be in in 5 minutes flat.

No I went to a shop and paid for that and the catch can to get taken off because I can't get the car high enough on jacks to get the pipe out. Should've seen the nastiness that came out of the can though!

The downpipe is definitely a b**** to remove on your back on jack stands. I had a hell of a time.

I may be following your lead and finding a shop around here to do it for me. Unfortunately, we are kind of short on decent shops.

Good mod. A rear motor mount stiffening is a must. I've literally seen a TRZ installed from all 4 wheels on the ground and back in 3 minutes.

after the 2nd tank during the brief stint of warm weather (from the 30's to the 70's) i noticed that my mpgs went from 21-22 to 24-25 (as per computer, which i know doesn't show accuracy but it shows obvious improvement)

yea yea, heat soak sucks for sure. as do bugs, having to run the AC on the hot days, and pollen giving you a nice protective coating.

but i think i still prefer summer over winter

got all my dents removed

1 lead birdshit, 4 acorns, 2 on the roof beam (not sure how) and one on the door. total cost....300 cash. cant even tell they were there

^ You are in NYC, right? Where did you get those done? I've been looking for a reputable place to remove a ding that I received thanks to a slime-ball co-worker.
