What have you done to your Miata today?

Plug wires and cleaning grounds did very little to solve my misfire issue... plugs, contact cleaner, and fuel injector cleaner next I think...

That is surprising, I thought for sure the plug wires would have done it. I'd also run probably a full can of SeaFoam through 1 of the vacuum hoses just aft of the throttle body, and take your time going through the whole thing. That will at a minimum clean the absolute crap out of the IM, head and the combustion chambers. It could be some uneven carbon buildup that's causing the detonation.

Silly idea, but can you borrow an ECU from someone to see if there's something wonky with yours?

Seafoam is a good idea, and it certainly wouldn't hurt.

I don't know anyone local with a MS setup for a turbo Miata... so no ECU swap unfortunately, hehe. MS datalog doesn't show any tach cut-out or anomalous sensor readings, so I don't think it's ECU related.

I might pick up a set of plug wires that's brand new, I just have two used sets (both in good condition though).

Yeah, even a cheap set of new wires is likely better than a used set. Miatas are notorious for chewing through plug wires for some reason.

I didn't realize it's an MS, I thought it was a stock ECU for some reason. If the data looks good, you can probably rule that out then.

Hrm... a little more research shows my original NGK blues are better wires than the used black OE wires I swapped in (and then back out). I'll order a set of blue NGKs... or maybe Magnecor wires... decisions...

Installed a calibration button for my LC-1, re-calibrated it, and now I have wide-band again!

Installed a knock sensor with a Flyin' Miata knock sensor mount (awesome mount BTW). Wired it to a KnockSenseMS controller, tuned it. Wired it to my MegaSquirt, setup knock control in programming.

Fully instrumented now!

Finally took it out of track mode... removed the hard top, track wheels/tires, and roll bar camera mount. Washed all the bugs and bits of rubber off.

I also put my front mud flaps back on.

trying to figure why my gauges no work (the glowshift ones)

My wiring harness might be no good, because i can only get 1 of 3 to work in different configurations. Looks like i gotta ditch the harness and run power and ground to each individual ground

Felt refreshed after my afternoon nap, and the wife was gone, so started my supercharger swap. Got the M45 removed along with the cold air intake, pulled both radiator fans, upper intake manifold, stock fuel rail and injectors. Pretty good for a little over 2 1/2 hours. It helps that I had the 'charger off before. That fuel rail is a PITA though.

Nice! I haven't done s*** to mine since losing that bolt. Ugh.

Continued on with stripping the engine bay. Removed the lower intake manifold, lower nuts were giving me a hard time until I took my own advice and pulled the alternator to gain better access. Removed the front bumper and both front large inner fender liners (due to wear from when the car was low), and the coils for what should be the last time. Didn't get more done because I spent my morning working on a stepson's Saturn.

dropped the car off to get body work done on the hood and bumper. he is going to fix the damage I got from getting backed into by a truck. :/

Got back into it today, didn't get as much done as I wanted because I got something in my eye that didn't want to come out. In any event, I removed the exhaust back to the muffler (this entailed removing the butterfly brace). I was going to start installing the EUDM 4-2-1 factory manifold and downpipe I bought, but couldn't find the gaskets. I was afraid I had put them back in the box it all came in and then threw it out. I was making one last check, pulled a couple of things out and there was the envelope on the floor. Woohoo!! I finished up by installing the new front inner fender liners, and sprayed some PB Blaster on the rear O2 sensor so I can pull it out tomorrow.

Raised it.

You're still pretty low for good handling.

Didn't get too much done today so far, had to watch the grandson for a while. Swapped out fuel pumps and removed the return restrictor pill. Pulled the boost and AFR gauges, in the process cut the power wire to the auto-dim rearview mirror (whoever wired that all up was an idiot), decided to pull it all out as I was thinking about doing that anyway. Pulled the dash in order to replace the wiring harness in the engine bay that had been cut up to install the AFR gauge (another hack job). Found out I'll have to remove the heater unit to access where the harness goes through the firewall, about to head out to start on that. DBA brake rotors showed up today as well, just need the pads to do that job.

Done for the day. Drained the coolant and removed the heater unit (for the record the pipe stubs are aluminum, at least on a NB1). Swapped out that wiring harness, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I just took my time and fed the old one through the firewall a little bit at a time, then did the same feeding the replacement back through. The hole is slightly behind the A/C condenser and there is a rubber/insulation mat there so it's just a little tedious. I will need to transfer over some of the plastic brackets (for lack of a better word, the things that hold the harness in place). Removed the dummy throttle body and changed over most of the fittings to the new one. They look the same but I figured I'd use the one for the MP62 that came with it. Since I have everything out in the interior save for the passenger seat, the main section of carpet will get replaced tomorrow once I have some things back in (don't want to get it dirty).

I'm just driving mine, got 28MPGs for the first time. She's running great but I'm getting boost creep under full throttle, especially in 5th. Anybody know how to fix that? I'm gonna have to do some research

Got an alignment today after working on the suspension and putting rubber bushings back in the rear diff. Drives better then ever now.

I ported the wastegate inside my turbo to solve that issue. If it isn't creeping to a dangerous level I wouldn't worry about it, mine was creeping 3-4psi, which wasn't too good.

Yep... don't boost in 5th...

Me... almost finished my project and hit a snag. Looks like it won't be coming to Mid-Ohio afterall.

On a different note... anyone know what size bolt would plug the EGR port on the exhaust manifold?
