What have you done to your Miata today?

Phen embarrassed? I'd like to see that...

Nice work, but what has that to do with Phen??

I'm sorry guys, continue. I'll change the title of the thread to "The Phen random chat thread" momentarily. ;)

LOL, WTF?

Damn Will, that sounds like a bunch of fun work that I'm glad I won't have to do for my car. LOL. Of course, I'm gonna have to do it for the Civic, and I think the rear diff bushings for the Bavaria need to be changed. May as well do that while half the rest of the drive train is pulled.

Ordered $80 worth of wiring and other assorted bits and bobs from my friendly local McMaster-Carr :D
Wiring and what not is for the battery relocation and the Master kill switch (per SCCA GCR regs).

Also spoke with my cage builder to tentatively schedule finishing the rest of the cage in the car.

Every time the local hill climbs and time trials are around, I get a serious itch. Seriously, THIS is 2 hours from me (video courtesy of our local crazy ass turbo Locost7 enthusiast)

No time like the present! lol

Finally got those three metal retainers installed. I had a blonde moment and was trying to install them upside down. Turns out, it is a breeze if they are put in correctly. Lesson learned.

Wow. I've been following that build for some time and I even posted in your thread I'm pretty sure lol.

A cage and the added safety equipment is going to ruin your competitiveness in DP right?

No, I'm currently underweight for DP. So basically it's just going to make for "useful" ballast. And by added safety equipment, what we're talking about is a) adding the sub strap to my harness, b) a master kill switch, c) a fire bottle. It's not wheel-to-wheel racing (which I genuinely have no interest in right now)

FWIW, the fastest DP cars look like this:

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty partial to the colors myself.

I mentioned LRP to Robyn, but haven't pushed for it as yet. I'll say you might see me, more as it develops. If I go I might head up to the Cleveland area the day before so I can join the convoy. That's provided I can crash at someone's house (or in their driveway!).

Did a little more work with the Command Module tonight. The "floor plan" is about as tight as I'm comfortable with for clearance between the battery and ECU, but it's enough. It'll fill in a lot more with the wiring for the main engine harness to the ECU, alternator to battery (via master kill switch), and kill switch to battery wiring in place.

I've got room at my place. Car's looking good!

Thanks for both, I may be in touch.

Just got done pulling the tranny to replace the clutch. No apparent problems with the Happy Meal (what looks like some chatter marks around 1/2 of the circumference, which is weird) besides the crappy engagement. Looks like I had some oil leaking from the tranny input shaft cover, so I'll be redoing that with the max oil resistant silicone. I'ma done for today.
