What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

oh ok cuz mine is where the doorsill is it keeps comin out from under there.. and glad i could help you remember..they told me what im getting (the whole carpet) costs them $600.. so they might try to complain about it.

dont mean to go off topic but has anyone hear tried to adjust(raise) the fogs? or at least know how to?

you should be able to do this with just taking the fog light covers off and loosening that bolt that holds it. Then adjust it to where you want it. Then tighten agian, I can't remember if there is another one for the other side. in this case the front bumper has to come off.

friday got a speeding ticket... ugh 2am dozing at the wheel didnt even know i was speeding.
its been 3+ years since my last ticket. :(

Better news, i installed the MS CAI on Saturday... just in time for the storms lol!
but went to Angeles Crest Highway for some canyon runs before the rainstorms... i LOVE IT! pulls great, throttle response seems to pull a bit harder, and sounds sexy with the new BPV.

i had to temporarily tape off the vent in the fender well since i have no splash guard...

batou, i was talking to steve a few weeks ago bout blocking those vents, he enlightened me on some pros and cons of it. While ive been away from home on business i have been working on a alum redirector/splash guard for those vents. Hard to explain without showing the drawings, but essentially it will force the air from those vents to the very bottom before allowing it back up to the filter. Will see how it works, get some numbers off it and if it goes well ill put blueprints up for all u who want to make one instead of taping the vents off.

Wait the splash guard is the plastic in your wheel well that seperates the engine bay from your wheel . . . you dont have one??

from the vented inner fender mine is open to my cai. bought my car used after it was leased...i wonder if i have something missing in there...hmm

It sounds like you do have the vented inner fender-liner, I wouldn't worry about it. And there is nothing but open space between it and the engine bay.

I believe all MS6's have a vented driver's side inner fender.

was getting horrible SIRIUS reception going back and forth thru the desert....decided to reposition my SAT antenna underneath my VG shark fin antenna along with my am/fm antenna....now i have great reception and a cleaner look...took less than a hour too.... :)

idk why his question threw me off.
the vents on the inner fender, the peice im working on is for the engine side of those vents. it basically forces the air/water/slush all the way to the bottom of the inner fender to hopefully reduce the influx of possible water to the cai filter, but still allowing airflow in vs taping them shut.
like i said before, we see how it works numbers wise. ill datalog all three setups: taped, open and the peice im workin on, just to see if it functions

sure, ill prolly wait till you get some test numbers down...
i need SOMETHING there, cause if i go to all season tires, it will throw water up in the fender vents directly into the CAI...

like i said, my last resort is to somehow track down the splash guard that they have been including with the AEM/MS intakes these days. idk if i can get it seperate.
Taped temporarily until these storms dissapate... sounds like nearly a month of back to back storms in Cali... our winters start late, lol.

Yea, the vent question threw me off a little bit too. I thought he meant that something was missing in between the liner and engine bay.

Got new shoes for my car today, Eagle GT's. 225/45. Maybe they aren't the most popular choice, but I burned through the falken's that I had, and wanted something different, with a higher tread rating.

They do, but it's not always enough. When I ran my MSCAI (that batou now has) I could still throw the CEL for MAF high voltage input when the filter would get wet (through the Hydroshield) and eventually make its way up to the MAF sensor. No telling if/when it would happen, but it was more prone in winter, because the filter would actually freeze up on a portion of it.

Chris (batou), I don't think that the MS3 shield works on that intake. I haven't tried it, but I don't believe it'll fit right or bolt up where you want it to.

I'm coming up on an oil change and tire rotation this weekend, maybe Friday night. Good thing I've got 18 qts. of Amsoil 5w-40 in the garage ready to go.

Yeah your car sounds fine to me. Mine only has the plastic "splash guard" aka wheel well cover seperating the engine bay from the wheel. Just use a hydroshield and you will be fine.

batou, im runnin the injen Large size prefilter on aem cai. i agree, it helps, but i agree it doesnt hold all out. picked it up for 15usd i think. www.autoanything.com. Here in TN we have pretty wicked storms too up in the hills, im debating on swapping over to an cs sri (and new flash) for the stormy season. idk yet.

heh, well being in California our rains are usually short and inconsistent.
So for now i just have the Hydroshield... but in ghetto areas of downtown LA and various parts of LA County there is flooding problems on the streets. i simply gotta avoid those all-together.

Steve, so the splashguard sold with the AEM/MS CAI is only on the MS3 ones?
dyamnit, i know for sure it wont work for our MS6... :( i might have to retrofit/make one using jaymangrum's designs.

Coyfish, the fender liners arent what we are talking about. The fender liner has vents between the wheel and where the CAI filter end rests with no protection between. These vents allow airflow, but are quite large and can allow your tires to throw water up in there. The splash guard is essentially a square-ish piece that sits around the back end of the CAI filter protecting it from any splash that gets thrown into the engine bay from the wheels. with heavy waters, the amount of water that all season tires can pick up certainly would not be protected enough from a simple Hydroshield. Hence why i have temporarily tapped off those vents until the local storms subside.

i need to check that its still sealed up well... 2nd storm is already on its way. 2 more to go!

Meh you aren't going to hydrolock unless you hit a HUGE puddle that basically submerges the intake going at a decent speed. Or unless you drive into a lake . . .

Last year it flooded quite a few times here in orlando. We get huge rains and I have never had an issue. If its bothering you that much just get an SRI . . . They are cheap anyway. Have you ever seen a hydroshield ???

If you put it under a faucet and let the water fall on it nothing gets through. It would really take a lot to cause an issue
