Got an oil change last week, and the dealership tried to sell me front pads and rotors for $505. I asked if the rotors could be turned and the service manager said no, the pads have worn a lip around the perimeter of the rotors. At the time I was thinking for $500 I can upgrade everything (rotors, pads, lines) if I do it myself. When I inspected the car (put my winter setup on) I noticed I still have a decent amount of pad, so...I'm going to try to get everything replaced under warranty, probably at a different dealership. I'll let you know how it goes.
If you do that, you can get all new Stoptech F&R rotors and nicer pads for $500 from any of the vendors. I've priced out upgraded sets for blanks, or even slotted rotors that come out cheaper.
Yeah, I've looked around...RR has a decent package deal going on ceramic pads (Hawk) and SS lines. If it doesn't work out with the warranty claim, I'll definitely upgrade. My next $500 was going to go for an AP, but going faster is no fun if you can't stop.
Let me know what you find out if you go with the ceramic pads. I was eyeing those up from RR and going to get the Stoptech slotted R&R rotors and do it all at the same time.
Interested on info about these rotors, I'd like to replace mine soon but I might as well just do everything at once...
Long story short, I got an Optima Red Top, and everything is good.
Which ones, the Stoptechs? RPM, SU, and a few other vendors carry them for a decent price. You're looking at $350 for a slotted set IIRC.
To be honest I'm not sure... I was looking around at options but I haven't done enough research to find out what my best bet would be. I really don't want to replace my rotors with blank ones or stock ones... $350 for a set? front and back?
I changed my parking lights! They're hella blue, and looking quite ricey, but I don't care, cuz my black cherry mica baby won't stay purple for very long...
SU has the Stoptech F&R set for $369, which is pretty good. I was looking at those with the Hawk Ceramic pads all around too, which were another $150 or so from Race Roots.
