What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Alright guys. I redid my grouns in the rear. Grinded them down to bare metal and bolted them down tight. On the front gound I grinded that to metal as well and bolted it in. I wentot hook up the battery and there was a tiny spark on the negative when it first made contact. I saw my dashhawk didnt cut on. The car didnt have any power. I took a test light in the rear past the fuses. One side wouldnt light. So I took the fuses out and inspected them and the connections. They werent blown. So I swtiched them and both of the wires would now light. Everything in the car then worked. heres the kicker. I went to turn the car on and all that happens is a click. It wont even turn over. Ok so I am thinking the battery is just about dead. Got my dad to bring my old car to the house and see if we could jump it. No luck. Everything works fine in the car. It just wont turn over.

Makes me wonder if what Great MY said. Would running that negative cable to the engine and grounding it with the other wire make the car start. it really makes me think maybe the alenator wasnt charging the battery last night? Maybe I was just running what was left on the charge. Im glad I was able to make it home. cuz once I park it and cut it off it hasnt started since.

went to 2 audio store today none of them had any 4 gauge wire! wtf! I was rushing around and barely got to work on time. And now the stealth I am driving smells like raw gas from the engine bay. What kind of luck do I have this week.... I called my dad and asked him to check out this other audio store close to the house to see if they have any. Hopefully he can get some today so I can go home tonight and run this wire through the car.

I hope this works! I talked to the guys at the audio store about running that negative wire. they said the dotn see the need for it. I said it cant hurt to try. thats the way it was before.

Dayuuuuuuum.

Damn thats a lot of work. Wish I could wash my baby. Shes all covered in dirt / hard water. Med schools draining my soul and it hasn't even started yet . . .

Oil also getting changed tommorow

harbor freight in robinson sells them cheap

Will never buy a jack stand from them again, had one fail while I was under the car, luckily I had the floor jack right underneath that side as a fail-safe.

Wow, glad you're okay man. Fail as it got crushed?? How many tons was the jack stand rated for? I got a nice 3 ton jack/stands/creeper on sale at sears a couple months back for $100 (from $150)... good deal, and I feel pretty safe under there. I jack the car dead center in the front, put the stands in, and just lower it barely enough that the weight is 95% on the stands. That way, if either side failed, it wouldn't flop. It's a good thing for you that you had the jack on the side that failed. That's some scary stuff. Definitely worth spending a few extra bucks when it comes to life safety stuff!!

^

i had a set of craftsman stands fail on me while holding up the front end of a 86 cutlass with no drivetrain. the welds split, and they spread like a 17yo at a kegger.

funny thing was i brought them back since they were a craftsman. and i guess there not covered under the lifetime warranty thing. only there hand tools are. so i raised a stink, got the manager involved, and got me a new set of stands. lol. ive probably had that 2nd set a solid 8 years now, and havent had a problem with them. i think the 1st set was just janky.

so my cxracing shipment wont be to me till next wednesday :(

looks like i wont be doing the Blow thru until the 26th

Getting ready to book an appointment to the dealership before my warranty dies out to see about my wonderful smoking car.. I changed the oil last time to synthetic and it seems to have made my smoking turbo worse.. Hopefully they will give me a new turbo or atleast tell me something when I go..

What happens if you reinstall the battery in the stock location? If you wire it up there and it works, then it's a wiring or grounding issue somewhere in the lines going to the trunk. It might also be that the losses in the cables to the trunk are enough that the charging system isn't working properly...larger cables should help with that.

If it works in the stock location, take it out and run the long wires on the garage floor to the battery. Run the car, high RPMs with all the electrical on (you could even put it on stands to get load on the engine), and see if you can replicate the problem. Replace the wires as necessary to get it to perform properly.

If it doesn't work in the stock location, it's probably the alternator or some other electrical issue that you'll have to sort out. It might just be a coincidence, but it's likely that the new wires either caused a short somewhere or changed the charging system to enough cause some damage.

Good luck getting it worked out.

Thanks for the help guys. Though it sucks since my internet has been down at the house.

Good news is I got the car running and as good as new again!

Last night I ran a 4 gauge wire from the batteries negative side up to the front where it was originally grounded with the other wire. Tried to start the car and all I heard was a single click. The battery was pretty low so I left it on the charger over night. Got up this morning and tried to crank it again. No luck. I thought the battery was bad so I switched it with the red top in my stealth and it still wouldnt crank. the other car was able to start with the battery in mine. So Its not the battery. I switched them back. Hooked it up again. So I took a test light to the 2 positive wires going into the engine bay. One was lit the other one wasnt. Came back to the trunk and tested again. One was lit after the fuse while the other wasnt. I looked at the fuse. it didnt appear to be blown so I replaced it anyways with a new one. Connected the battery again. The car turn over a few times but would not start and then stopped. I checked that fuse and it was blown.

Heres the thing. We have 90 amp altenators. I was told by the audio shop 2 80amp fuses on each line will be more than enough. In the engine bay I have a 100amp fuse on the starter wire. And a 80 amp fuse to the other wire. In the rear its two 80 amp fuses. So the 90 amp draw must have blow that one 80 amp on the starter power wire. I went ahead and put a distribution block in place of that fuse since I dont have another 100 amp fuse. she started right up. :) I turned all of my lights on and hit turn signals and brakes and my voltage didnt drop like before. I am good to go.

Got my AutoEXE carbon fiber rear splitters

The left one was actually slightly mishapen on the inside so it was a B to install and did not line up perfectly. so it was a little bit crooked.

:) good times

I like those rear splitters. Eventually I am going to make my own mztune style front splitters. As soon as I get some foam in a block large enough to make a mold...
