What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

reminded myself why I shouldn't lower my 5; picked up 6 50lb bags of gravel yesterday. I would've gotten more but I didn't know how much it would drop w/ 300lbs in the back. it dropped some, but I think I can get more bags next time (I'm building a patio)

you could still lower your 5...just get higher spring rates

It's not really something I'd like to mess with. I love the look of a lowered car, but don't love the compromises. it's our only car, so it gets used for shopping, hauling kids around, home depot runs, etc, and we have a lot of hills in my neighborhood with steep transitions everywhere.

You could make the 5 look dropped all you want but one glance at unsightly wheel well gap and you'll know it's not.

I may offend but I think it's better to be dropped on stock rims than to be riding on nice rims at stock height. If you're on OE or stock looking aftermarket wheels at stock height, doesn't matter, but nice rims have to be backed up with a nice stance.

Dropped the 5 at the dealer once again. this is the last chance for the dealer.

they didnt believe my brakes were messed up... but i finally found some physical evidence. there is still rust on half the rotor on the front passenger side. this means the pad isnt contacting the entire rotor. something isnt right there.

so, they now agree with me, and are going to replace a bunch of stuff. this is the same side the wheel bearing and axle were all messed up, so they are replacing almost everything because they think something else is warped.

i really hope this fixes it, because i have 300 miles left on the bumper to bumper. if it doesnt, it is going in to a different dealership.... or just leaving my driveway. too bad there no other options like the 5 out there.

Speaking about tires. I put Goodyear Assurance Tripletred on last Fall and the 5 has pulled right ever since. I have the tires re-balanced and rotated and still the same result. Does anybody have a suggestion? The tires were not cheap and at the rate it is pulling, the right front tire will wear quickly.

I had a local shop do it. Supposed to be an ASE certified shop. I'm thinking i got screwed. I'm thinking that i may take it to another shop when more money comes my way...not in near future. I'm not a mechanic, but i don't think it is the alignment. I think there may be something in the suspension.

I also have a "rattle" in the pass side rear. We have had some problems with it since we bought it.

Thanks. That sounds like the "rattle/chatter" I am hearing. Have you done any of the repairs on the rear? If so, is it something the average guy/gal could do? It is starting to get warm outside so i want to get the car in top running condition.

If you're not intimidated with doing this kind of thing.

The only work I've performed on ours so far is lube the sway bar bushings. If the spring is your issue, you will have to do slightly more work. There is a FSM on the board here too where you can find repair procedures that the TSB is referring to.

Remove factory wheel locks for regular acrons. The 90s have ended and I don't think people are out to steal OEM rims. Make tire change much easier without having to fumble for a key.

I beg to differ.......

Car pulling to left or right is usually a sign of alignment problem. Get the suspension ckecked first before any alignment. its the right way to do isnce alignment will be wasted if you have to replace suspension parts later on, you will have to do alignment to finish off any suspension works.

Unusual signs:

Suspension parts worn:
1. wiggle at certain speeds.
2. tire wear
3. pulling to left or right
4. tire disengage with car LOL.

Tire Pressure:
1. worn at centre
2. worn at both edges

Tire Balance Problem:
1. Tire wear (Cupping)

Alignment Problem:
1. Pulling to side
2. tire wear at one side of car

Do you see rubber powder sticking to the body after a drive ( at least 30 min.) This is a sign that you're loosing rubber. Check Toe in toe out.

Hope that wasn’t your car. Have to admit I have not seen or heard of stolen rim incidents in a long time since it is easier and less risky to just jack the car. The 350Z being popular with the import crowd, I’m sure it'll get chopped pretty easily and quickly too.

Do you have history behind this pic? Was the Z on OEM rims or aftermarket? Do you know if the owner had locks – they can be defeated just as well. I will correct my comment in that cars with limited edition rims (eg. NISMO or performance line) or high end cars are exceptions to the rule.

Personally I can sleep easy and not worry about anymore pilfing my rims –nor the car for that matter. A very effective anti-thief device (and becoming more effective with time) is the stick in the middle console :p, which maybe why they didn’t (or couldn’t) take the car.

I know most of the story. It was a special edition rim, but all that meant was a darker finish than stock, nothing special really. I dont know if there were locks on the wheel, I will ask next time I see the guy. In any case, they also stole rims from a BMW 335 and a Toyota Venza in the same month. My other car sits in a garage, I dont trust it on the street, even with locks on the wheels.

A Saturn coupe in my condo had all its wheels stolen. Thieves were kind enough to put the car on blocks though.

I have a townhouse with a garage now.

Rented a bounce house for a birthday party this weekend. Also stopped by Lowe's to pick up materials for the garden and party. This is a 300 pound inflatable bounce house, six 40 pound bags of soil, about a dozen plants, two bags of charcoal, and a 30 pound bag of dog food.

Suspension parts worn:
1. There is no "wiggle" at certain speeds.
2. I haven't checked tire wear, but i am assuming the tire is wearing due to how hard the pull is.
3. It does pull.
4. it hasn't yet.

Tire Pressure:
1. I haven't check the pressure, but how hard it is pulling I don't think the pressuer would cause that. I won't hurt to check though.

Tire Balance Problem:
1. Previous tires were cupped

Alignment Problem:
1. i will need to check the wear compared to the other 3 tires, but i suspect it will be worn.

1. There is no noticable rubber powder, but not really paying attention to that either. Car is dirty so it would need to be washed to really notice it.

Thanks for the input.
