Toyota 4 cylinder (1.8 liter), 187-hp, 138-lb-ft torque, 6 speed, rwd, 1965 lbs, and 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

Still. I think, personally, it's too expensive.

$39,000 for a car with the Lotus name, and with that level of refinement and performance...is not overpriced at all. I see it as a bargain actually.

It looks and drives like a car that costs much more.

Wake up!! It's a four banger Toyota motor. No doubt; it will be a great driver, but overpriced.

at 1965 lbs, that four banger makes this thing a friggin supercar, and friggin reliable, in my opinion. Not bad for the price! =) and i don't think it looks so bad...

what else even comes close in this price range?

autoweek is a good magizine... i just read that article the other day. I like it..

Im down to only 2 magazines
turbo and autoweek.

which toyota motor is it? the Celica GTS? that engine isn't horrible from a tuning standpoint. And like Zumi said with the low weight, a little tuning and that thing is gonna fly! Plus it's a Lotus I can afford!!

it looks like a fancy version of the mr2 spyder..

i can't see spending $39K on it.

I've seen lots of reviews of this car. The Elise is a great car and the handling is hands down(bowdown) . I've seen a silver one in the Bay Area. It looks awesome.(omg) and $39000 is not that expensive. Cheaper than a boxster. If you have the $$$. GET IT!!!

i'd love one of these in my garage. it's even more rare and distinct than the MSP (in my area at least). it's also 400 pounds heavier and such...that's for the added horsepower. but it's one of the hottest RWD cars out there. it's definitely worth the money. some of u may think it's ugly, say that to its rear end when it's passing u.

Not bad, but for that $, I'd be tempted to get one of those K1 Attack kit cars.

i wonder if the ones with the b series motors are coming too.
there was a guy at firebird raceway here in arizona that had one.

i think the b-series honda engine in a lotus elise was a project car for a tuner in cali or arizona. they swapped out the rover motor and put that screamin' biatch of an engine in.

in the article they mentioned the exige. anyone have pics of it ?

and the attack k1 roadster that's made from a honda accord is badass. it's crazy how old honda stuff fits into it

no they were massly produced.

uhh no they weren't. there's a company that's importing k20a, b18c5, f20c engines from the 2003 integra type-r, 1999 integra type-r, and s2000, respectively, that transplants them into the lotus elise. the engines r mass produced, the lotus elise is mass produced, but by hand.
