Nice choice...I guess after the Miata that would be a family car.

rofl... apparently i'm not the only crazy who thinks that way... at the last auto show i went to i was sitting in an RX-8, and thought 'whew... now i know theres soemthing i can drive when the babies come... maybe my life wont be COMPLETELY over!'

Quite an odd combo there - Navagation on a 6 speed base car. Looks nice!

the best combo IMO! no sitting on slaughtered cow that is miserable in the summer and miserable in the winter, but you still get the high technology :)

If anyone wants a rickman order, better get it in before it's baby time! God knows he won't have much spare time after that lol

Thanks guys. We won't likely start having any babies for at least a year or two, but...

My wife loved my miata and she likes the RX-8 just fine too. We will both miss the convertible though. What a wont miss is keeping the bastard clean :)

The back seat in my 8 is easier to use than the back seat in her New Beetle. Also, the child seat will go behind the passenger... likes it's supposed to.

Ohh, and as far as options, this car has exactly everything I wanted... except the MP3 or 6-Disc.

The $15k question...In your opinion...What's more fun to drive on a daily basis...The miata or 8?

Good question. They are completely different. In a way I've always considered my self a "cart" car kind of guy (MR2s, Miatas, Etc.). But the Miata feels cheap compared ot the 8. It's just more refined and "solid" feeling.

Don't get me wrong. I will have another miata, but I think I want an NA instead of an NB. I want the miata as a race car, but I love my 8 as a daily driver... once I get over the horrible gas mileage.

As to which is more fun, I'd have to say on a day to day basis the Miata was more fun. It's easier to throw around town without feeling like you're going to spin into a curb... but that's mostly because I'm still not used to the 8 yet. It's SOO easy to get the back end out from under you in the 8 it's sometimes scary. But I prefer driving around in the 8 more. The power is there when I want it and to be honest it's cushier than the miata. And lately I don't have time to enjoy driving as much as I used to so being in a nicer car is better for me on the short little trips I make around town.

Boo!

Oh well, I still love the way the RX8 looks and sounds. Props man! Sorry the Miata had to go, but you do what you have to do.

I drive two 8s on a regular basis, as well as my daily driver NC.

The 8 is certainly more practical for most uses, but for me, the handling of the Miata is just unbeatable, combined with it's small size. The 8 however, is faster.
I'd say on colder/wet days, it's toss-up.

But once it warms up and the sun is shining and that top goes down....it's no contest! :D

mmm....I'm debating this as well. MS Miata....or RX-8? Oh the choices one has to make in life.

Interesting responses...seems like if the sensation of speed & power is more important then the 8 is a wise choice but if handling & tossibility is the main point then the miata takes the cake!

Choices!?!?

well, i'm guessing its gonna take a few more years for the aftermarket suspension ppl to embrace the 8... and by then it will just be a decision of "do i want a back seat and decent trunk space?" or "do i want a super light convertible?"

Oh, and the 8 has mad more power... when the turbo/super market catched up, i'm sure that car will be a superpower :D

Let alone when we start seeing 3-rotor cosmo's shoehorned into em...

but.. for now... us mx-5 lovers can still pop the top down ;)

Dammit Rikman. does this mean I have to get an 8 as well. At our rate is going. I should get one in a month.....lol

Update:

I LOVE the 8.... problems and all. Now that I'm getting used to tossing it around I'm digging it more and more every day. I just got my windows tinted last Friday, and wheels will be ordered as soon as I sell this set of bronze Drags sitting in my office.

I'm debating getting aftermarket wheels similar to Rennen Zen ZR5

Or maybe powder coating my stock wheels black... decisions decisions.

I don't really have a ton of mods planned just yet. I've been too busy with work or my personal life to even think about the car. Although I've driven it out of town a few times now and I have to say it's 1000% better than the miata in that respect.

I also need to source a mobile DVD/CD/MP3 player to replace my stock Nav unit with. I'm dumping the stock nav and replacing it with aftermarket bits.

I'm pretty sure I've got an O2 sensor going out on me so I need to price that up. I had to replace a taillight that was leaking and about half full of water. Cost me $25 on ebay... still sitting in the back seat waiting to be installed.

I've got a trade deal going with UR for some pulleys (as useless as they are). I will also be replacing my front pads and adding SS brake lines all the way around sometime in the next few weeks in an effort to get rid of the "squeak". The damn brakes sqweak worse than a saab.

Vampyre: Quit following me man, it's getting creepy (I kid, I kid).

Screw the 8 going tomorrow to look at a nice red msm....lol. still have your extra set of wheels. i may need some new bronze ones or black
