weird tire problem

I was changing my oil today, and happened to notice a weird problem with my passenger side front tire. The inside sidewall is distorted, and has what looks like bubbles poking out of them. Easiest way to describe it. I've had my car aligned, and hadn't noticed any problems until this. There are 5-6 "bubbles" in the sidewall...see pic. I checked my driver's side front and noticed only 1 "bubble" in it, the rear's are fine. WTF??? Anyone seen this before?

The tires are Toyo Proxes....215/35/18

Yep. That's a bubble in the sidewall. You have to get the tire replaced. You probably hit/scraped a curb or something. But it's amazing though... it's kinda hard to hit that spot.

get that replaced. you don't want your tire blowing out on you when you are going 80+ on the highway......

Weeeeeeeerd.

That can also have happened when hitting a pothole or something.

edit: and yes, those are appropriately called tire bubbles

And, in some tires (crappy ones) they just occur at weak spots....cheaper tires use cheaper rubber, and not well mixed.

Prob not the case with the Toyos, those are fine tires.

i had something like that, it was the belts inside the tire...busted...it some nasty bumps/holes.

Did you buy the road hazard? It doen't look like the tires are that old and it could be seperation. I would take them back and see if they can ajust them out onder the factory warrenty, if you didn't by the road hazard.

So it looks like I gotta spend some more $$$. Seems to never end sometimes. I found a place local that has then for $122/each mounted/balanced. Guess that's a pretty good price. You're right the tires are in great shape otherwise, hopefully this is an isolated incident....BTW the place I bought them from is out of business...so no luck there!

This can also happen during the mounting process. I had a shop do this to a set of Dunlops that I bought. If you had them mounted, check with who did the work. My tire that was damaged got replaced for free.

Do not drive your car much at all until you getthat thing replace. It may blow out at any time!

No need to spend a dime on getting new tires, either. Call up a reputable place that sells the Toyo brand. If the tire is defective, they should replace it for free. My wife's truck has GoodYears on it, and we took it into a local tire place when we saw the tire sidewall had a dimple on it. They had a new tire there in stock when she took it in. Of course, when she got there, found it only had 11 lbs of air in it due to a big ass nail in it, and they ended up patching it instead.

Either way, take it to a tire shop, or even let Toyo know if the shop does not help you out.

He bud, just call the manufacturer. Don't through them away, they should cover part of the new tires.

more bad news

Well my day just got shittier....I went this morning to have the two tires replaced, and found out that the one bad tire, also had a cracked rim, in two places. One of the cracks had a slow leak, but neither is good. So now I gotta buy a new rim too. Just F*#king great......

here's a pic of the cracked rim....argh!!!

More bad news. The US supplier of G-racing wheels says they have no 18" Seki's in stock, and won't have any for 30+ days. GREAT!!!!

On another note a friend of mine said he used some place called the "wheel wizard" to fix a cracked rim.....dunno if that's a good idea or not...

Damn dude... You were lucky they didn't go any sooner!!! Glad to here you have the problem semi fixed! :-\

but also, can't Tire Bubbles come from sitting in one position for to long? Like if you were to store your car in the winter time and such... This probably isn't what cause yours, but just for the knowledge of people who store there cars!
