Weird sound

Today I noticed that if I'm going really slowly like less than 10-15 I hear a woosh woosh noise, sounds like 2 pieces of metal rubbing together or something?

The car only has about 175 miles on it -- is this normal? or do I need to check something out?

Mine made the same sounds when it was newer, though not consistent, maybe once a week. I couldn't find evidence of anything rubbing and the noise went away on it's own

When new I heard a sound similar to that of rubbing your finger around a wine glass. I found it to be the brake pads so new and thick that at just the rigth angle they would rub the rotors. Maybe it is what you are hearing but its hard to explain noises in words, lol.

+1, its your brake pads "breaking in."

hopefully thats the noise. ne idea how long i shud expect 2 hear it for(in mileage)

It depends on how often/hard you use your brakes. I wouldn't be concerned until probably after 1500 miles if you are a regular user.

a regular user of brakes? how is one not a regular user of brakes?

i was thinking that myself. i guess u would tend to use ur breaks less if the majority of your driving was highway....

me personally id say that the majority of my mileage is city

mdavis, I appreciate the sarcasm, but if you are driving on the highway 90% of the time, I guarantee you wont use your brakes as much as person who drives in the city 90%. Also, if you are taking the car out on track days or autocrossing.

Unfortunately, I can't bring you any scientific numbers. Just take it as the sound is normal as it is described.
