Weird exhaust?

Ok so when I bought the car it had a catback but didn't know what. Found out it was cp-e. I was under my car today and noticed where the second cat should be there was a test pipe. I was like WTF?! Also the downpipe doesn't look stock. I went to the dealership and asked them what was up and they said when they got it in it was straight piped, so they sent it to a muffler shop to get it catted. Right before the cat back should hook up to the cat the cut part of the cat back out, and put a cat in, then the straight pipe bolts up p that and the straight pipe has a cp-e logo on it, it's welded to the flex pipe and between that and the bellmouth they cut out a section and added a cat. It doesn't have a name on the downpipe part at the top but it's 3 inch all the way back. It doesn't look like stock pipe as far as I know, the bellmouth and piping are one piece. Anyone know if cp-e made different looking downpipes before or what I have or what the hell is this mess? The dp has two 02 bungs on the bellmouth, but I'm not sure if Mazda made the downpipe that way. I'll get some pictures.
 
Pic's would be your best bet. I know my Cobb DP had two bungs near the bell mouth for a 02 sensor + EGT. But the Cobb DP has their logo casted into the metal so its probably not Cobb. My guess is Corksport.
 
i'm pretty sure his car did come with the cp-e tbe. its just that the dealership messed everything up on it .... you shoulda came and asked the boards before going to the stealership!
 
well the dealer doesn't have to put it back to stock. just wondering how much did you get it?
 
I paid 19,995. For a 07 sport. Very clean, already tinted, had turbo back but has two cats added in. Well one looks like a little cat. I'm not 100% on it yet. 34,000 miles. It still sounds amazing and is fast. Gonna try to get the other cat cut out.
 
It's good though because warranty still covers it. Thts what they said when I asked them about it. I think I can get the other cat cut out or at least hollowed out and hve it still covered.
 
Well yeah its a full turbo back they messed up. I'm thinking just get someone to cut the cat out of the downpipe and then extend my 02 sensor back behind the other cat, then put a high flow cat in its place.
 
No offense, I got my 07 ms3 gt used for 20k in nov. 07 with 6000 miles on it. I am not saying you got screwed( well kinda) but I would've talked them down a little more. Hell they didn't even know the car had a turbo back exhaust on it.
It was a private sale but still...

I wouldn't go crazy with removing those cats until you get something to monitor the engine like a Dashhawk or at least a boost gauge. Catless TBE's on stock ECU's like to spike pretty high and some guys get boost creep.

A little much I'd say. I got my 07 GT with 20k on it for $18,000 otd.
 
Yea it was just really clean all over, and seemed brand new with 1 owner and no wrecks or anything. I shoulda got a speed protege though. My friend has about the same stuff done as me on his protege and he punks evos. Almost at the light and always at a roll. My friends evo isn't stock by any means either and it's tuned. Stock psi and internals, not tuned either on the protege. I just gotta find a way to make it lighter now. Well I'm thinking about just getting a new downpipe instead of trying to fix it. The cpe with a high flow cat and get that second cat cut out of the beginning of the cat back. Or maybe corksport turbo back.

your buddy must suck at driving his evo. no msp will ever beat an evo unless its motor swapped. stock internals on that car cant handle more then like 11 lbs. dont know what ur smoking but the msp is a slow pile of s***. that car is 180 hp stock and ur comparing it to ours. do us all a favor and dont... my spec v never lost to a msp even before i boosted it
 
His friend Jesse smoked a evo 9 at the light. It all depends on what you have done and how you drive, not what kind of car. Plus ours weigh a ton. Why do you think everyone builds up little hatchback civics. Power to weight ratio.
 
hey cjms3 what the hell are u talking about guitarsoloist87 does have a point with the power to weight ratio i wont deny the power the ms3 has in it but the msp is still a good car if we did auto X i would probably win cuz it aint about raw power always and drag is left for rwd and awd cuz after so much hp on fwd it spins forever i know i burn out all 1st 2nd and half of 3rd take a 2oo hp stock car and a 150hp stock car make them both 200 and the motified hp will almost always win motified hp is faster than stock hp of the same level... o and i know i own one im actually that msp ^^^ u need to get ur info in line and straitened out before u call out fellow MAZDA owners and there cars that they love this site has plenty of them and they will side on this with me im not tryin to start s*** k... i see ur new so ill cut u some slack and im not intentionaly tryin to be rude but wtf the pro was the first SPEED car they had to start somewhere so yes they have problems but o well. i picked up a turbo 60000 mile car for 10k u spent what +/-18k i can run laps around u if i put the difference into my car yes i kept with a evo 8 rs on the free way i pulled in 3rd gear but he caught up in 4th what does that mean? i have put money into my car to do that.. evo 4g63 motor is a 2liter so is mine... awd great at the light but doesnt mean s*** really on the free way whether or not the evo ran good or not doesnt mean i cant say it.. SLOW PILE OF s*** WTF? ur car been out for how long? recalls happen just like ur motor mount issue and ur turbo borge warrner co engineered turbo recall? and as for the evo always winning look found a video u might like

pile of s***? a slow pile o s*** is an ss cobalt or a gs eclipse the ms3has been out for only a few years s*** dont usually break brand new it breaks near the end of warrenties thats y those exist give ur car time it WILL happen it aint a toyota lol.
