Warranty and lowering springs

don't even think of taking it to the dealer if u have any kind of mods. B4 u go put everything back to stock. Anytime u change the suspension to anything but stock u void warranty.

You're kidding right? I hope you're not serious....

They can't void your entire warranty because you installed a set of springs. Now if your shocks wear out prematurely (and they will), then their not going to cover those under warranty. But if you install springs, then blow the motor, they can't deny your warranty claim......

Look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

that is an absurd statement. it just means that any warranty on your suspension COULD be voided. if your turbo blows you would still be covered because the springs or shocks would have absolutly no effect on that

Were dealing with the stealership here....

They'll find any excuse to void warrenty on anything... The best way to get this answer is read the details in your purchase/warranty agreement. I checked out the Magnuson stuff (interesting)... Like the Act said it must be clearly stated in your warranty contract... And im pretty sure it says in there that any modification will breach a contract agreement thus voiding your warrenty. Although i might be blowing hot air... I never got a warrenty cuz it just didn't seem to be worth it... cuz everytime i hear about someone trying to get there sh!t fixed they get fu@ked... and everytime i go to Sears for alignment they say "you know when you alter the suspension you void your warranty"... and i think to myself... "i don't care cuz i don't have warrenty"..

Warranty is like insurance... You'll spend thousands and it doesn't do nothing if you don't use it... You think the stealership wants to fix your car. And whats the purpose of warranty? To cover your "butt" and for the dealership to make a couple extra thousand dollars. Not lose money...

Hmm... The only real way to find out is... Do some serious modding to your car, create a problem (sabotage) on your car. Nothing serious just a small problem like unplugging a vacuum hose. and see if they even think of diagnosing your car under warranty... Or in this case since someones wondering about suspension just go in and say somethings wrong with the suspension...

It's one contract not several contracts covering seperate parts of the car.... That's like smashing your bumper but your stereo broke at the same time... Now how would you explain that one...

thats not how it works. you blow your engine but you put different rims on. they can't void it. i just wanted to know if people were hassled because of lowering springs

Sorry but like you said, you're blowing hot air. They can't legally void your "entire" warranty based on one single modification. Contact SEMA if you really want to know what they can and can't do. SEMA is into protecting our rights as tuners big time.

True a warranty is like insurance, but let me ask you this. Do you have medical insurance? Yes you could get away with not having it, but what are you going to do if you get into an accident, or your appendix bursts (like mine) and need surgery? Got an extra 20-50K on you to pay for that? The one time you need it, you're going to wish you had it. Besides, on a new car ilke most of us have, you don't pay for the warranty, it comes with one. Unless you buy an extended warranty.

Finally suggesting someone sabotage their car to to test the dealer is absurd. If you really want to know, go in and have a civilized conversation with one of the techs at your local dealer.

If you are really worried buy the Mazdaspeed springs and camber kit (or coilovers) and have the dealer install them.

exactly

Well if I get into an accident insurance will cover pending I survive. I agree go in to the dealership and have a talk. And even then its still not in writing. Sabotage absurd no. Being a computer tech customers do it all the time i guess to make sure were not ripping them off. Like i said rhe best way is to read and fully understand your warranty contract. Which is like the law. Hard to understand a full of sh1t.

I have aftermarket work done to the car, and never had an issue with the dealership.

Unless you have an issue with your suspension later on you won't have a problem.

Simple fix, if it happens put it back to stock bring it to the dealer.

Only major work will a tech say something about, if you change the turbo or something major like that.

I have my warranty and I am more than happy I have it I've had problems with a gas sensor Mazda has had to pay out over $1800 to fix it, guess what, with a 0 deductible they can take forever to fix it I don't care, my warranty has already paid for itself !!

Why not call a couple dealers and see their point of view...That's the way to get an answer...

Aftermarket suspension work should only void the warrantee on that system, not the transmission or engine.

It all depends on the dealer and if you have a good relationship with them or not. I have quite a few mods on my car and my trans mount just broke after the recall work was done. Because I use the same dealer they fixed it with no warranty problems. They did say that if I took to any other dealer my car would be "Branded", in other words the warranty would be canceled. Here is a list of my mods, ETS 3.25" TMIC upgrade, silicone boost tubes, stiffer rear engine mount, Apexi TT, H&R sport springs, TWM shifter base bushings, Turbosmart BOV, Mazdaspeed CAI.

I wish that everyone works a form of retail in there life. To understand manufacturers warranty, extended warranty, product service plans, insurance etc! and the BS that people will say to sell it, and to void it.
