so any kind of mod from CAI to exhaust to headers..ect ... will not void our warranties on our mp3z?????

What the **** do you think? If you so much as play the wrong CD you could void your warranty. If the dealer thinks you have been abusing the car he does not have to warranty crap. If anyone tells you differently they are full of s***.

You could ask the dealer from which you purchased the car from if they are “mod friendly”.

Some people think that the dealer has to “prove” that the mod caused the problem. That is WRONG. There is a law out there that says that but you would have to take them to court to enforce the law.

i thought so i couldnt believe that they would have to prove some stuff like that just checking on it to double check...

Informer your an idiot. OK, for the last time, if you put a CAI on and your engine blows up, your warranty will fix it. If you put a CAI on and you go through a small stream and suck water into your engine, your warranty will not cover it. The aftermarket part HAS to cause the problem for it to not be covered by your warranty. If they won't fix it cause you have an aftermarket part on then hire you a lawyer and take them to court, they WILL lose, but any decent dealer will not say s*** about an exhaust or an intake or anything.

So to recap, stay with me here Informer. Intakes, exhaust, plug wires, springs, rims, tires, pulleys, non of that will void your warranty, just use some common sense. Nitrous, turbos, OK if your engine blows then they prolly won't fix it if they see the nitrous or turbo, just take it off when you take it to the dealer.

And if you say different Informer you are the one full of s***. I had tons of mods on my 2000 Eclipse and they never said anything at the dealership, and I have researched this topic alot.

With a name like Informer you should actually know some s*** before you post.

Oh and one more thing, racing will void the warranty. If the dealer catches you running your car at the drag strip they can void your warranty. Take your tags off before you run :)

Man Informer, play the wrong CD?? You are a true idiot hehe.

here is some info on you ... i copyed and pasted word for word .. this is not my writen by me .....
No. Federal law prohibits a dealer from voiding your warranty just because you are using aftermarket speed equipment, with only two exceptions: the warranty can be voided if the aftermarket part causes damage or adversely affects the emissions or the emissions system. In recent documents produced by the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), a trade association-representing specialty automotive parts manufacturers, and the following quotes have been extracted:"The vehicle manufacturer is not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket equipment is installed on the vehicle. This protection for consumers is the result of a parts self-certification program developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)."Under the program, if a parts maker completes the EPA process of self-certifying its parts, the vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty even if the certified part has failed and is directly responsible for the warranty claim. In cases where such a failed aftermarket part is responsible for a warranty claim, the manufacturer must arrange a settlement with the part manufacturer, but the new vehicle warrant is not void under the law."If the failure to honor a claim involves the new-vehicle warranty, and it appears that the manufacturer is improperly denying a claim, the incident should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC is responsible for monitoring compliance with the warranty law; the agency's telephone number is 202/326-3128."

Only if you are lucky. The dealer CAN deny your claim because you modified the engine. See a CAI will cause your car to run rich which could dammage something. Same with exhaust. I will give you that few dealers are mod friendly but majority of them are not.

True! The dealer can still deny your claim and force you to take them to court. That takes a long time to get a court date. About 6 months to be exact. Then your car is down and you are having to fork over legal fees while you wait for 6 months. God help you if for some reason you have to reschedule.

I know way more than you about tuning cars and racing them. Mod your car when it breaks take it to the dealer and see what happens. I know from experience is that how you want to learn?

I have a friend that put 17" rims with the correct offset and his strut broke. The dealer would not warranty the repair until he put the stock rims on the car.

Reguardless of what anyone tells you the dealer has the FINAL say unless you take them to court. End of discussion
