Hey I just installed the vibrant exhaust today and I got a few questions....On the stock exhaust...there is one hole where the 02 sensor goes...but on the vibrant, there are 2 and I dont know what the other one is for? I dont know if they forgot to send me a plug to go in there? Also, there are 3 screws that are up front near the j-pipe but the part where you screw the screws in is too close to the pipe to be able to fit all three screws in. I dont know what to do so i just somehow muscled out 2 to fit on there. The last thing is the exhaust seems to be rattling and I dont know if it just needs to be broken in or if there's something else i can do. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. I am going to fix it all tomorrow cuz i didnt have time tonite.

The 02 sensor should be in the second hole. The front one should of came with a bolt pluggin it up. Also do you have kartboy hangers, because that might be the rattling problem if you dont.

That bolt you need to plug it up is actually on your stock j-pipe. Take a look, its there.

K thanks Ill look at the stock j pipe..i did look but it was a quick look so I'll look again today. And yes I have the kartboy hangers

I got 2 of them to fit fine, but on one of them you will have to trim the edges or find a nut that will fit. I trimed my edges cuz i had the tool to do so.

1 - Take the old plug off the stock J and put in in the first hole on the Vibrant. It is actually really cool that they put that first hole there so you can run wideband without having to have a shop do it.

2 - Get smaller screws, it will work for the J/S pipe connection.

3 - The rattle is probably cause of the hangers. Get Kartboy hangers and that should cure it. Check near the muffler, it likes to rattle against the bumber on a piece of sheet metal, I think it's a head shield for the muffler/bumber or gas tank.

yeah I got kartboy hangers...ill check tho to see whats up with the rattling. And were they supposed to give me gaskets to put between each of the pipes?

^^^That's what I hear.

But new cars like the protege are manufactured to such tigh tolerances, that I would believe that if it rattles or needs further modification of your car, than the manufacturer had to of known this before putting out the product. Or are the manufacturers unable to fabricate parts in small quantities that meet the tight tolerences needed to have everything fit?

It's gotta be one or the other, correct?

Sorry for the thread-jack...It's kinda on point (very kinda) And I'm not really speaking exclusively about the Vibrant Exhaust, but for all the products that need 'a bracket' or whatever needs tinkering.

Yeah, you should have gotten gaskets. Mine came with them, but I had to reuse the stock gasket between the s and j pipes because the one they gave me had the holes in the wrong places.

Also, I had to shave the collars off of the factory nuts for the s and j pipe connection. I used a dremel. Afterward they fit fine. You just have to use an open ended wrench to tighten them.

I don't know about the rattle though. Mine does not rattle and I have an AWR front motor mount, so my car shakes a good bit at idle. My guess is that it is either touching a heatshield or the hangers are not tight.

Not everything is perfect with this exhaust, but when you get the kinks worked out, you'll be completely satisfied. IMHO.

Is the hole with plug in the stock J-pipe large enough to fit a WBO2 in? Anyone got pictures of it?

Well $hit, I wish I would have known that before hand. I installed my WBO2 in place of my second O2, and am getting engine codes all over the place because I hooked up the narrowband simulator incorrectly. Well, time to get underneith the car and put the stock O2 back into place and the WBO2 into that hole. Thanks. +1 rep.

Coolio...no prob.

Stock exhaust. I replaced the second O2 with my wideband, and was using narrowband output from the wideband box, but it's all screwed up because the narrowband output is configured to simulate the stock front O2 (not specified in the directions). So I'm getting engine codes for the second O2.

I'm getting an estimate done soon for my custom 2.5" exhaust, but the Vibrant might be the better bang for the buck. And if the Vibrant also comes with that hole, than that's one less piece of work I have to get done if/when I buy it.
