i have been thinking about getting a short shifter for the p5. i am debating between kartboy and a twmperformance. i have never seen a kartboy, though i have noticed many of you have it. i have seen the pics of twm's and it looks impressive. what do you guys think?

Get Kart Boy.

Well worth the money, ohh, and get the bushings while your at it. Its like $106 shipped. You wont regret it.

yeah what exactly are the bushings for and is all this stuff easy to install...if so i may be buying one soon.....if not should i just get the b&m shifter????

The bushings "chrisp" up the feel of the shifter by ruducing the ammount of wobble allowed through the stock bushing (which are a pretty squishy rubber). They connect one of the rods connected to the shifter to the side of the transmission, they are kind of a donut thing, kind of like bearings between 2 surfaces.

The bushings are ezee fo sheezy to install.

The short shifter can be a pain, but overall not very hard. Ive never done anything with cars or anything, but i was able to get it done. You just need to get (or make, like i did) some retaining clip pliers, and someone helping you to pry it out helps while you squeeze it.

Im a newb, i got it done. so can you :)

I have the Kartboy SS and bushings. What a difference they have made. It was my first mod, it was a good beginner project, just be warned getting the metal ring off the old shifter is a pain and will take some time.

well i got the kartboy and plan on putting it in on saturday if the weather and wife permit.(since she got it for me)so thanks for all the inputs and ill let you know how it turns out.

fo'sure

Remember that youre likely seeing the Canadian price for the TWM shifter - so American will price will be cheaper

I have the TWM shifter and its nice and tight and ohhhhhhhhhhhh so short! Id recommend it to anyone - also if you go to their site and see the MP3 at the bottom of the front page - guess whos??? YUP mine

well i got the two installed, pretty easy. man the instructions on this site were great. when i took out my console, i saw the reverse side of my shift boot. so i turned it inside out, man it looks pretty cool, it is like carbon fiber, only reverse the colors (more white than black) and maybe it is because this is the first short shifter i have ever had, but man what a difference it made in my (redp5)

This is the first time I read that the short shift was pretty easy to installed:confused:

Every other thread reads the opposite...

The hardest part of the install would be the snap ring...Other than that it is pretty easy.

It looks pretty complicated to me, I don't even know how to remove the center console...

I'm debating wether or not I should by the short shifter based on how easy/difficult the installation is going to be. So if it's too complicated, I'm just going to get the Kartboy bushing.

Is there a place on the web where I can read the instructions b4 buying the shifter?

Thanks in advance.

T'anks!

You shoudl pick kartboy out of those two purely for the fact he donates to the board and is down to earth on questions, heh.
