Turbo Timer ?'s

I understand that the timer leaves the engine running for a set time when you leave the car, but what about arming the alarm? Do you have to wait still for the engine to shut down?

After you have removed the key, You may lock your doors with the switch on the doors, while the TT is doing it's thing (engine idling).

When you install the Turbo Timer, you can wire the emergency brake, so if it is released, the engine will shut off. There is a way, I think, to make your car think the engine is off, thus enabling you to set the alarm. Nobody has posted that yet, however.

For short jaunts, I leave the timer function off. To and from work which is 24 miles each way, I use it. I leave the car locked, come up to my office, then I arm the alarm. It's nice that I can see my car from my office window. As my Blitz is set now; the 35 minutes to work or home keeps the engine idling for about 1 min. 35 seconds +-.

no no, you misunderstood me . i enjoyed the length of your post; I was talking about the idle time. of course, 1:35 isnt going to hurt anything, but it just seems like a bit of overkill to me. but hell, nothin wrong with overkill at all...i enjoy overkilling things too

i've been okay.. as good as one can be with a damaged mazdaspeed.

So Turbo timers keep the engine on so it can idle down to keep the turbo from overheating and breaking something. It also controlls the amount of boost also?

no, it has nothing to do with boost at all. unless you have the blitz timer with the boost gauge. but thats all it is, a gauge. no boost control

yeah hopefully it will be Dexter, but on the topic at hand i have heard of a few alarms that can be armed while the timer is on, like the Compustar i believe will do that or might even have its own turbo timer option.

so should all aftermarket alarms work well with the TT or few of them mite act like the stock alarm?

ok for yall people who wanna mod your alarm to arm when the car is off. i got the 411 on how to do it.

1st go buy ya a relay
2. cut the ignition that goes from the alarm and the turbo timer and hook it to the relay and the relay to the ignition
3. solder, splice, or use blade type connectors. and your done!

The idea here is to make the alarm think the car is off when the timer is using the igntion. Trust me it works! Alarm shop showed me this trick.

I was just gonna post that it wroks. I have the Apline 150R alarm and I'm able to shut off my car, let the TT kick in and then arm the car and walk away without any worries. I love my alarm set up and my MSP!

could ya post a better how to on that, maybe pictures to, it'd be greatly appreciate right now i took the stock mazda alarm system out of the car and change dipswitch 2 to on and it set the alarm 60 seconds after the ignition goes off but if you can do it this way pls show us a howto with some pictures id like to be able to arm or disarm the car at anytiem.

oh btw, my turbo timer has been on at a max so for of 5 mins but i was driving it extremely hard. for period of about 30 mins i have a the greddy full auto turbo timer, set auto L so anything thats over 3k it will count 1 second at a time anytime yoru under 3k it -1 second for every second yoru below that. so when i stopped in my garage it sat for about 5 mins 30 seconds on. and even if its overkill only thing your wasting is gas. id rather have it cool down completely and not hurt the turbo than to let it set for 30 second and hurt the turbo.

Sounds awesome! Pardon my ignorance in electrical components, but what kind of relay did u use? Does it really even matter? I was looking at this: http://www.radioshack.com/product.a..._name=CTLG_011_002_013_000&product_id=275-226 ? I just setup my Greddy TT last night, and it would be sweet to be able to get the alarm to activate while the TT does its thing.
