tunersteve's 2011 Mustang GT thread

Nothing new right now, just driving it. I do have some issue shifting when it's cold, but that's about it. Nothing to cry over like some of those stories on Jalopnik.

RedLine tranny fluid and problem solved!

After watching this thread, and my next door neighbor driving up this afternoon in a Performance White 2012 Shelby GT500 w/ the SVT Package....I'm starting to get the itch.

It is a bad itch. I had it and went old school with it. Tunersteve, looking real good.

Just read the tranny article.. makes me sad. Great motor but s*** tranny :(

Dude, that article is a joke. It's not a s*** trans by any means. There are two issues, both of which are known and can be fixed by a competent dealer (key word competent!). The fluid is not viscous at all at cold temps, and it's a bear to shift in sub-40 degree weather. Once the car warms up, it's not bad at all. The other is the pressure plate bolts backing out from sustained high-rpm driving, like on a road course. They changed the assembly procedure and use a different Loctite and that problem is effectively gone now. There are a few very early build 2011 owners having issues, but the bigger problem is the dealers not taking care of the situation and making it look bigger than it is.

Definitely glad to hear that you arent havin those issues. It seems stupid that it got made into such a big deal because dealers/people act stupidly

That's the part that pisses me off. Some of the members on those forums freak out at the littlest things, which get spun wildly out of proportion in no time. It's a shame that the dealers have made this into a bigger problem than it should be. I guess I'm fortunate that my dealer is good at what they do.

Better shot of the new wheels. Not sure how long I'm going to have them:

New shift knob as well:

I don't know how crazy I am about the offset. I am borrowing them from a friend, and I'm not sure if I want to buy them or not.

Exactly like the '12 GT500 SVT wheels. They look good, just change to a Ford center cap.....

They stick out quite a bit for only a 9.5" wheel. Up front, on most drops, you have to run major negative camber to make them fit. I'm looking at the SVT PP wheels, which are available in a 10" wide, and fit a lot better. The Forgestar F14s are another wheel that can fit with no modification as well and can be had in 9.5 or 10" width. I want to run 9.5" fronts and 10" rears.

Been a while since I updated this. Ordered "Phase 1" of the suspension today. FRPP 1" drop springs, Steeda adj. Panhard bar, and FR500C lower control arms should be in next week. Pics once I get the parts.
