Dealer had my car 6 hours today! I went in for my oil change, asked about TSBs and such to make sure everything's up-to-date. At first the service manager said there were none. They finished my car and pulled up front, but the SM paged me and told me there actually was one, and they were going to do a reflash. (TSB campain number 4907H). Back into the shop goes my car ....
Time went by ... they told me they were having a problem, that my ECU was "cleared", and their software update was screwed up. "It might take a couple hours", so I go have a couple beers. After about 4-1/2 to 5 hours since bringing the car in, they said they had it done and I went to get it.
I drive away, and notice my TPMS light isn't on. I have on my Winter wheels without TPM sensors and as you'd expect, the TPMS light's been on ever since), BUT my traction control light is on!
Back into the shop. I keep hearing my car start up and shut off. I figure the tech is trying to reset the code and checking. I do not think the tech ever disconnected the battery because nothing was reset (like radio controls, etc.).
The theory, after consulting Mazda NA is that the reflash got hung up and wouldn't proceed because the TPM sensors weren't there.
The car seems to drive fine though I didn't test the traction control, and I was able to turn DSC on and off. I went home and put my stock wheels/sensors on and am supposed to go back tomorrow for a reflash, again.
Strangely, my trip computer numbers showed a couple/few less average mpg compared to when I took it in. (shrug)
What do you gurus think?
On the plus side, for having to wait so long, they comp'd my oil change, which just added another free one to the 10 I already have.
