Trying to hit 250whp, help?

I dont think high end bearings and head work is necessary if you are trying to just hit 250. Matter of fact its gotta be a waste of money since the oil system needs more attention than anything else. I might have mentioned this before, but I have stock valves, springs retainers and guides with over 100k miles on it running shy of 400whp. The only thing done that makes it reliable was eliminating the turbulance by gasket matching, and then a good polish to keep the carbon build up to a minimum. But the real deal is with the coated oil pump keeping pressure optimal.

Bottom line here is you will need fuel control, timing control and a good balance of supporting mods that will compensate for inadequacies created by the engineers of Ford. Several FS owners have found what those inadequate items are and could probably write a book on them. I can tell you at power levels right around the 200 to 250 mark, with both stock and forged internals, my motor has blown from a bad tune.

On the bright side, you can hit your mark with stock internals if you dont blow your money on bulls***. Just make sure the tune is on the TOP of your list.

I just realized, this guy is running stock block with 265WHP/272WTQ @ 14 PSI with a junk yard motor. His user name is COUGAR10agREDUX. I'm surprised he hasnt chimed in here yet. Check out this thread: Rebuild thread

^^^ yup. I have been following his thread. Its amazing.

As for this thread there is alot of good information here. Im sure with whats been said, the op can figure out what he needs to do to reach his goal.

Lol that rod got owned.

and @ yudkib I was just curious about the 2560, and if I were to upgrade the turbo (which is not in the near future) I would definitely get the 28rs minimum.

carnage.

ill have to look at cougars thread - when i click the link, all i see is half a rod in an oil pan. full link?

and arams car was arias pistons. theyre forged, but theyre made of glass... super-sensitive to timing, so good call. theyll handle tons of hp, but yeah, you should make sure your timing is on point.

This is the first I've heard this about Arias...glad I just got my egt gauge kit :) but 25psi not a hint of detonation according to my homeboy J&S!

between the luck you both seem to share (PAR, ahem), its a miracle neither of you cracked one. a J&S is a fantastic idea for those pistons.

i have to take a look at this a little more, but he is now on his *third* engine. saying "the block is good for xyz" doesnt apply when youve smoked two motors already.

i wonder if the motor could hold more HP with a DocB oil setup... does anyone know if rich had that on his car?

Yea I don't see the point of cougar's build. Not trying to bash him, but why would you keep rebuilding the stock block when it has already been proven to fail many times at that boost level? I just don't understand it.
